Uh... how does this work? I'm just standing here for ages with the banner at 13/100, then 22/100. Is this another instance of faction lock ruining things because Horde is killing everything? I'm confused.

Even by the current terrible standards of this game this is badly designed garbage.

Once you place the flag there's a number on it, like 0/100. You kill things and it will go up, but it goes down for some reason too. No idea why.;

For awhile non elite mobs were coming in to the circle and targeting me directly. Once I killed them it'd go up about 9, but stopped at 80/100 and no mobs came into the circle anymore. I killed a few mobs outside of the circle and that seemed to help, but the number would go down so much it wouldn't help enough.

If you leave the circle the number seems to go down faster.

Weirdly, if by some miracle you finish this quest, you have to go back to Daka.

Edit: as if this wasn't bad enough now, I do it and the mobs attack you so fast you end up dying (depending on the class you're on of course). Once you die it completely resets to zero... Seriously, who hires these people?

On the plus side it looks like you can do it with others and even share a tag now with the other faction (I'm assuming that's wm off only), so that helps. If you can do it while others are.doing it you're much better off. Though I've noticed that sometimes the sharing of kills doesn't work.

Edit2: So bizarre, I've done this quest now on several toons quite a few times and I still don't get it. It never seems to work the same way twice. I just sat there and killed all kinds of mobs inside the circle and probably one in 5 (20%) counted towards the flag. Why? Who knows?

This quest is one of the possibilities during the Necrolord assault in the Maw.

If you are like me and am confused due to no mobs around, you just need to wait for some respawns in the area. There are non elites that spawn nearby that you will need to drag into the yellow circle if they do not run in themselves, and killing them gives progress to the bar.

Tip: Look up! There are also vanquishers in the sky that you can pull down for some extra count.

Did this this morning, It stopped at 54% and was going really slow.

It may be designed by how many people are there more spawn so if only a few its going to take a while.

So I just started pulling any and all non-elite units I could reach while never leaving the circle. Slowly some counted and filled the count. Again, look up and some Valkyr flying units work as well.

TL;DR edition: Cross-faction tags don't count. Don't leave circle. Pull mobs nearby the area into the ring where there are no friendly NPCs defending the periphery.

If your bar freezes and won't go up any further, try hugging the banner while you kill things. I can't verify this with 100% certainty, but the quest itself seems to test for enemies killed in proximity to the banner, ignoring the visual circle on the ground entirely.

Yet another insanely bugged quest...

None of the suggestions here worked for me. I only seemed to gain progress when there was another player in the circle with me -- when I was alone killing things, my progress didn't move, no matter what I tried. Could be coincidence.

So I got lucky with this: there was no one around. From what I saw, the mobs that get you the bar filled spawn once every (maddeningly) 30-45 seconds, 1/2 at a time. Like some of the others are saying, some don't always count and you have to kill them right on the damned flag. This is buggy as HELL so GL to everyone with this until they fix it.

As others have reported, very likely just horribly designed buggy trash.

What seemed to work for me is while the circle looks giant, it is actually tiny. Stay within maybe 10 yards of the flag and mobs should continually spawn and be TARGETING you as they spawn and run at you. These will give the majority of the %.

Did this last night on my Hunter, and it was buggy in that I didn't get credit for every mob, and even lost some progress without ever leaving the circle, but I was able to do it relatively quickly.

Did it just now on my Warlock, and boy did I have a different experience! First off, literally nothing I killed gave me any credit towards the progress bar, whether I pulled it into the circle or it ran in on its own. On top of that, they seemed to completely ignore my Felguard, despite having Threatening Presence active, and focused on me, instead, even if I'd never so much as LOOKED in their direction. That combined with the roar the elites do that element-lock you, and I wound up dying. After I died, I finally started getting credit for killing some of them. They still ignored my Felguard and I got to curse every time I saw an elite in the circle, so it was painful and slow, but I eventually finished it.

Definitely skipping this quest from now on. The rewards aren't worth the annoyance.

DO NOT try to relog if monster spawns stop. It will reset the progress back to 0/100 without fixing the lack of spawns.

I was standing around waiting for mobs to come, and none were coming as mentioned in other posts and probably why you're reading this :). What seemed to work for me was actively pulling all the mobs that normally spawn there (outside the circle) into the circle and kill in the circle. I was on hunter, so could pull them from a distance - not sure if it goes down while outside the circle, so try to pull with a range ability if you can to stay in circle.

If you aren't getting any sort of indicator or progress bar, just keep killing mobs in the circle and the quest will complete eventually.

if the banner freezes, us the ballistas and some flying mobs will come (that if u are range, and u can target them)

I have done this on several Alts as well as my main. When i did it on my main I was kiting every mob i could find to the circle.
You do not have to do that they will come to you (non Elites). On my alts i fired the harpoons once they were loaded, every time i fired one a non elite showed up they had me targeted from about 50-60 yards away. I tried this on all my alts it worked and was simple to complete.

This is one of the worst quests I have ever seen in my life, half of the time you don't get progress when killing within the circle, it hits like a tank and if you die you lose all your progress.

It occurred to me that blizz thinks of their worst designed quest and then tries to top it. If you leave the circle to try and get one of the adds that are constantly taunted by npcs you will lose progress. So you have to wait in the circle for incredibly slow respawns and try to tag them before the opposing faction does. Locks, hunters, anyone with a pet have a huge advantage for this quest.

Absolute trash quest, not sure what they were thinking when they made this. If you leave the circle the bar goes down if you die at all the bar goes down

So I came her trying to figure this quest out, and I think nobody has said it yet, but it appears what you want to do is click on the Prime Bladeguards, and they will run out of the circle, while you stay inside, and agro trash mobs for you to kill. Once I figured this out. Piece of cake.

I just stood in the middle of the circle. most of them would pop/phase in next to me. if it slowed down I would spin around and target randomly til I saw ones in combat on the edge and pull them in. Seemed to work.. UNTIL., I had to hand it in. apparently its in the middle of nowhere. sure no land there. Shows it at 28, 25ish on Korthia side and 42, 91ish Maw side. dunno.

ADDED: Figured it would be with the rest and it was. prob bugged it dropping You and What Army 3 times

I went from 63%or so progress, back down to 0%!

Had to repeat the whole stuff, again and again, really annoying

I've been completely avoiding the Assaults because I find them terrible content but tonight I was a few Soul Cinders short of an upgrade. So against my better judgement, I decided to do one. Necrolord was up and I got this buggy trash quest (the centurion quest was bugged too!) and reminded myself exactly why I don't do these assaults. They are buggy, boring, and obviously Blizzard doesn't care enough to fix these broken quests.

Another terrible terrible terrible assault quest something so simple that could of been just kill 20 enemies in the circle turned into a circus show that may or may not give you percent or just decide to randomly take it all away from you and make you start over, just depends on how the game is feeling that day

No need to say how terribly designed, not to mention how inconsistent, this quest is.

Not always giving percentage/progress just stops no matter how many you kill.
Elites outside the ring sometimes grant percentage, and sometimes not.
More often than not, it gets stuck on 99% until i kill 5+ more enemies.

It is a LITTLE bit bearable with other people there but its the same thing here, not always getting credit for tags.

If this quest is up for the 3rd NL invasion in a row, i will lose it.

In order to make progress on the % you not only need to be within the yellow circle, but the killing blow needs to come from a player character.

If your pets, or the NPCs from You and What Army deal the killing blow you will get no progress.
Your pets can help you with dealing damage, just make sure to set them to passive the moment before you defeat a mob.
