This mob turns friendly when you get him to 20% and does some roleplaying stuff.

Additionally, you just need to be close to him when he's "killed" and you will get the quest complete.
(Got this done when 2 hordes killed him, I (as an alliance) just standed next to them and watched)

While susceptible to Slow, he didn't seem to be impressed by it and still outran me easily. Melees for ~1500 on cloth. Not really solo material for mages.

I managed to kite him to Wintergarde Keep using Blink and Rocket Boots, but sadly, the guards didn't seem to give a damn about him. (Nor do guards care about explosive runes being put on them...)

In yet another edit, I completed the quest with aid of a Horde paladin. From the looks of it, a retribution paladin with strong gear would be able to solo him. Just mind the explosive runes he casts - they seemed to hurt. As posted above, you receive credit simply for being around when he "surrenders".

Solo'd as 75 Death Knight (Unholy). Put on tank gear, make sure Bone Shield is on you, and also its cooldown is finished to get it back up. Use Death Strike whenever you can (make sure diseases are up). You'll probably need to use Icebound Fortitude too. STA food is always good.

Only have to get him to 20% or so, and then he gives up.

Believe it's solo'able on every class that can heal.
Hits for around 800 on 13k armor.
Spawns "runes" on the ground, which you have to avoid by moving out of them. A bit like "Void Zones" by several bosses.

Solo'd as level 76 arms warrior in brutal gear. Put on a 1h and shield, play defensively, move from the runes, use shield wall and shield block when you can, use enraged regeneration and a pot....bloody hard tbh took me 2 tries but did it eventually

Soloable as a 75 MM hunter who's levelling with a PvP spec for giggles, stuck cheetah on and distracted him then kited as long as i could everytime my pet got a bit low, didn't take too long to get him to 20%. Seems to run at around 40% so with disengage + cheetah you can make some good distance whilst your pet gets back to full. Rinse and repeat. Probably just tankandspank-able as BM.

Did this as a 74 BM Hunter with a 75 DK. My pet(Echeyakee, cat) would tank, the DK would keep healing the pet and I was all out DPS. This also worked with the next boss(Grom'thar). Kill Command and Bestial Wrath whenever possible so the cat would also DPS. Kill shot to finish it off.

Probably a stupid post, but you can very easily solo him as a Holy Paladin at just about any level above 74. He doesn't hit plate sword/board very hard, and is easily outhealable. Simply turn on Retribution Aura and Judge when you can. I used Seal of Righteousness most of the time, and when my mana dipped below half I switched to Wisdom until full again.

It took me a while to kill him, but I was never in any danger of him killing me either. After a while I just stood in the runes because of how much of a joke it was. :]

just be sure to have some pots to tank him for a while to give time for pet to restore hp

shouldnt be hard for good geared ones

Fairly easy as a lvl 75 ret pala with average Northrend gear (few blues, mainly greens).

As others have said, he is stunnable, so I waited till my HP got to about 4k before stunning and holy lighting. I used my bubble near the end - with hindsight I probably didn't need it, but I wasn't risking it :) Remember to use your instant FoL whenever it's up too as they healed me for more than he was hitting for. Just don't let your hp dip too low as he crits for over 2k.

Soloed as a 78 fury warrior, easily using a Saronite Mindcrusher with a Saronite Bulwark shield, in defensive stance.

Used Enraged regeneration, as well as Medallion of Heroism. Finished with over 9k HP to spare. Just kept backing up as I fought him and the runes were a non-issue.

He is solo-able to any class that utilizes in a lot of armor, preferably ones that can heal themselves.
Like the guy above had said, he hits for about 800 damage on 10,000 armor and summons runes, so keep moving around. It seems like through personal expereinces that he cannot be snared, feared or cced, however he can be slowed but this doesnt really matter because he still runs as fast as the player (you). However his weakness lies in how he is not stun immune, so particularly for me a level 72 feral druid i was able to solo him (My gear wasn't to gear....notrend greens, i start in cat form with pounce, load him up with dots then go to bear form, heal whenver my bash is finished with CD and then back to bear form).
For any classes that can heal and wear heavy armor, it is advisable to stun him when your health is at 50% and heal. Rinse and Repeat. Note: (You may need to use potions and etc)
Luckily, you don't need to get him to 0% health to finish the quest, but just to 20% = 20k health so instead of burning through 100k of his initial health you will only need to burn through 80k.

I beat him easily enough as a 75 warlock wearing mostly quest/tailored greens using the sl/fg leveling spec.

There's really no need to pull your demon out of the explosive runes, they really don't do that much damage and his melee attack tickles my felguard. Just heal through all of his damage and if you can watch your threat carefully then he'll drop in under two minutes.

75 Prot warrior easily solo'd him, he only managed to take off 5k hp. he is susceptible to stuns and deals pitiful damage apart from the easily avoidable explosion.

Tried soloing this as a level 78 boomkin. Without entangling roots, cyclone, or any other CC this bad boy is too much for me. Hits for about 1.5k.

I attempted to solo in bear form, cat form, and tried every combination of stuns I have available to me. (including War Stomp) No luck.

Boomkins, we need help on this one.

Easily soloable as a level 80 Combat Rogue (Fists). Just burn all cooldowns (Blade Flurry, Adrenaline Rush, Killing Spree and Evasion), and spank him. Didn't even need to use potion. Ended the battle with about 3k life (hits for 1-1.5k per hit, but because of Evasion you have almost 10 sec of dodges).

Solo'd as a 74 frost mage.......barely. Needed health pot, food buffs and evocation glyph. I had 12k hp.

cast Ice barrier and mana shield and wait until it has 30 seconds left.
summon water elemental, move far away from the water elemental and make it attack.
as soon as the mob heads towards the water elemental, pop IV, spell power trinket, and blast away.
my rotation was frostbolt all the way until i needed to move from the ground spell, then i it fireblast, coc, repeat. used blink a few times.
remember to refresh ice barrier when it breaks and use your health pot.
when you hit 10% health, ice block, wait for him to head towards the water elemental, hit invis and then move back until you go invis.
immediately after invis, hit cold snap, and evocate.
after water elemental dies, cast another water elemental, cast Ice Barrier and try to blink far away.
at this point, he'll attack your water elemental and you'll have about 5-8 seconds to finish off or you'll probably die.
cast IV and finish him off with frostbolts.....hopefully you get a couple of fingers of frost proc.

it's a very close fight and you might make it out alive with ~1k hp.

The most important thing while killing him would be to avoid the runes on the floor, they deal a lot of damage that can easily be avoided.

Solo'd him as a frost death knight (with tanking talents) in frost presence. Used death pact, death strike and the emblem of heroism.

He is stunnable, soloed as 74 prot paladin popping trinkets, wings, divine plea, pot whenever they came up. LoH not required if you avoid the rune circles.

He's immune against Fear, watchout warlocks and priests!

If you're a warlock just summon a voidwalker and let him tank, use Health Funnel when needed and set DOT spells on Dregmar all the time, when he has 20k hp left you'll complete the quest.
Was able to soloable him with a lvl 73 warlock in that way. (took some time though..)

Soloed as a 76 Prot Paladin with average gear (mostly blue, some green, some old purples).

The most critical thing is to keep away from the rune circles he casts at about 20 second intervals. You need to just need to keep moving away from them, and his damage output isn't too bad. He will eventually run out of mana (at least for me as a prot pally) and then it's just tanking from there on out.

BTW, he's inside the cave but will come out and patrole. You'll want to fight outside the cave where there's room to move around (back up to avoid the rune circles).

Should be soloable by most 76 as long as you can keep away from the circles.

For pallys: I used wisdom for both seal and judgment and self-healed after moving from a newly cast rune circle. Ended with about 50% mana left.

Key moves (not necessarily this order):
• Cheap shot
• Kidney shot
• Evasion + adrenaline rush on a kidney shot cooldown
• Sprint away + bandage
• Avoiding runes ofc
• (Slice and dice, blade flurry, killing spree, atk power trinket)

Feral druid soloed on 74 bear tanking gear bash +barskin overheal yourself when hit 50% repeat again if you dont "kill" him , avoiding circles ofc. Isnt so tought. Hit me for around 500-600 on bear and 1300-1400 normal on humanoid.

77 druid soloed in bear (17K health, 21480 armor, 33% dodge, 3336AP). Easy, just stay out of the circular rune markings. The only difficulty is that OS X decided to fire off Time Machine right after the fight started which basically froze my client for many dozens of seconds at a time while I got hammered while flailing to shut Time Machine off... When I got it back my health was down by half but he was almost at 20%. Druids FTW

Extremely easy solo as a 73 bear with decent gear (12,507 HP; 13,859 armor). No potions or buffs used other than Mark of the Wild and Thorns. Did not even need to stop and heal myself (http://www.cuckhead.com/?spell=34300 kept me alive long enough for him to get low enough).

Obviously, as others have said, stay out of the circles lol. You will die if you don't move out of them, as I did 3 times before I figured out what was going on O_o

Soloed him as a 74 discipline priest. Stay out of the runes of course.

To begin, start off using power focus and DoT him with DP and SW:P. Shield yourself and keep a renew on at all times. Try to get as many wand ticks in as possible or you will go oom before he hits 20%. Most importantly, KEEP MOVING!

Keep renew and shield on yourself at every opporunity, and use your cooldowns whenever they are up. Shadowfiend at 40% mana and make sure to have a mana pot. Because you are only slowly damaging him with DoTs while outlasting him, he will eventually run out of mana (before you do). Once this happens, the runes virtually stop so you can stop moving and focus on wanding instead.

VERY IMPORTANT: WATCH FOR INNER FIRE. If this runs out, you are going to get hit like a truck. Make sure to watch and do not let it run out even for one hit.

soloed him easily with my 73 blood tanking spec death knight ... he does low dmg on you if you keep avoiding the rune shield ... spam death strike and used mark of blood at the start and then icebound fortitude after it ... really easy

Easily soloable as a 74 resto shaman. All you need to do is drop your earth elemental, drop a searing totem, and spam lightning bolt. Heal the ele whenever needed.

This guy is impossible to solo as a 72 elemental shaman. Even using all cooldowns such as Earth Elemental Totem and Heroism and trinks. Better off waiting till a higher lvl or getting a group as the quest suggests. If you DO try to solo him, good luck. I've tried 3 times and died at around 50% every time.

Just soloed him as a 72 prot warrior. I had all the cobalt stuff so decent def rating for my level, 14k health and 13k armor. Took me two tries.

It was a really long tough fight but the obvious thing is stay out of the runes. They come at regular intervals and as a warrior you can be mobile so no problem there. I used my medallion of heroism early in the fight and because I'm prot, I was fighting long enough to use it a second time, that two times plus a potion was helpful. I also have lifeward (enchant) on my weapon.

One key to fighting this guy is STUN STUN STUN! He is stunnable, and when he's stunned he's not doing damage. Also, I got 4 ticks of my frostweave bandage in during a shockwave stun. Other than that, stack sunder (devastate) and then hit him as hard and often as you can while staying out of the runes.

Remember you only have to get him to around 20% (20k) on health, then he gives up, shields, and tells you what you want to know.

Well I guess I must suck because as an 80 mage with pretty good purple pvp gear I get demolished at around 50k life. I'm arcane and moving around rapidly as to avoid the runes but I have no crowd control and he always catches me.

Soloed this guy as a 74 Enhance shaman in quest reward greens with no problems. Drop fire elemental, summon your doggies, then pop Bloodlust IN THAT ORDER and then go to town. The wolves will heal you through all the damage and you should have him down before your doggies disappear.

Soloed as a 76 hunter, I found the best way is to kite him using aspect of the cheetah, (but be careful he runs slightly faster still) and juggle aggro between you and your pet, seeing as neither of you can stand a direct assault from him for too long.

So when you run out of kiting room, feign let your pet pick him up then pull aggro off him when you've made some room to kite him again.

EDIT: He's immune to daze effects so be ready to deal with that as well.

CheapShot --> Sinister Strike --> Gouge (5.5 sec for me) --> when you get energy back, Kidney Shot --> sinister Strike --> Evasion once stun wears off --> Gouge --> Sprint --> BANDAGE! --> Repeat, may not get it on first try but practice makes perfect :)

How to solo as a fire mage 74?

STATS
1000 spellpower, 20% fire crit - 11 500mana & 9200 hp.
minor speed increase
(mediocore TBC gear)

BUFFS
Arcane Intellect
Molten Armor
(Flask/elixer)
(Weapon buff oil)

WHAT MAY HELP
Swiftness Potion
mana gem

THE PULL.
/use trinket
/use spellpower potion (if you got them with you, not neccasary)
/use Combustion

1. fireball
2. Scorch
3. Living Bomb
(start running, blink)
4. (if hot streak is up) Pyroblast
5. Fireblast

KITING.
Basicly, you run around and refresh living bomb everytime.
Use fireblast when it's up. Pyroblast when you got hot streak.
Blink everything it's of CD and you are running straight.
Blast wave for whenever he's catching up on you.
He is also slowable with Cone of Cold.

REMEMBER
Before jumping off the cliff, to buff yourself with slow fall.
Use evocation only whenever you just jumped off a cliff.
Do not jump to far or you might lose aggro (fully reset) or jump to close (he might catch up on you and punch you to death while falling down).

It took me loads of tries to get it done right...
Why didn't I wanted to search for a group? Because I was hard headed and wanted to show it IS possible to solo it as a mage.

Soloed him as 72 Blood DK,
Spam Death Strike, Rune Tap, Icy Touch and Plaque Strike.
When aggro'd him I used:
Mark of Blood, Raise Dead, Dancing Rune Weapon.
When your ghoul has about 5 sec to live use:
Death Pact.
Oh and I used:
Icebound Fortitude while running and jumping around him. :D

Very easy as a Feral Druid in only questing gear. The trick is to bash, side-step while GCD is running, then regrowth x2 and rejuv.

What I did was I started in cat form and got all my bleeds on, then switched to bear form.

In bear form you can laceratex5 and mangle/maul spam.

REMEMBER to bash and heal, main reason why i could solo him with ease.

3/10 in difficulty imo

I just soloed him as a lvl 75 ret Paladin. You just have to watch the ground when the lights start forming, that means he's about to cast his spell. Just run out of the circle light and keep on hitting him. Heal yourself when you need to and before you know it he'll be at 20% and he'll tell you to go blow the horn, lol.

Pretty easy as a shadow priest (did it as lvl75 without heirlooms or anything fancy), just keep your shield up at all times, move away from the runes and dish out damage like a madman. The healing done by Vampiric Embrace (I recommend having the improved version of it) should heal you enough.

Solo'd him as a tankadin (level 74). It was pretty easy, just stay out of the circle and save your CDs. Didn't hit too hard, though the runes hit me for about 1.6k when i wasn't paying attention.

Easily done as a feral druid lvl 73 with blue lvling gear.
Open In catform and apply all bleeds then bear and just avoid the runes on the ground and your fine.

As a Paladin: lvl 74 - Prot: Step away from the runes he casts on the floor, think of them as ticking time mines, keep devo aura up and it should be a breeze. He doesn't melee as hard as the other elite Taurs.

He's quite simple as lvl 74 catform feral druid in quest gear.
All I did was approach him in stealth, pop berserk, and open with pounce, then shred him until he turns.
After that, just spam mangle, and use maim whenever you need to heal, and stay out of those annoying mines.
Your Imp LotP will keep you at enough mana for the fight, so no need for innervate either. All in all, a very easy kill.

Not possible as an arcane mage til very late 70s I'd guess. He hits for 1.5k and though slowable, still moves over 100% speed and unrootable so kiting won't happen. With an elemental to tank, it could be doable though.

He is soloable as a lvl 75 fire mage (I have shoulders, robe, and staff heirlooms, rest is quest greens/blues). 11791 HP, 13938 mana, 1154 spellpower.
Start of with a pyroblast, and pop mirror images immediately after, they should tank him until he's at around 40% or so, then it's just keeping up your mana shield, and stay on the move, I didn't use any pots, but he got me to use cauterize, though...
He is immune to disorients (Dragon's breath) and slows (Frostfire bolt and blast wave), but the impact stun gets him.
Only took me one try, there's probably a better strategy for it :P
Oh, and hot streak only procced once, it'd be ALOT easier to kill him with more procs.

Just soloed him with lvl 73 Fire Mage... with the talent that use scorch while running i was able to jump of the clifs, use slow fall, and keep scorching while falling.
ranning and blinking i was FireBlasting and scorching, with the Firebomb on him all the time.
Mirror Image helps a little aswell(he have to kill the images, one hit for it, but already is something)
he hits you, but mana-shield can retain some damage.
I had to try this quest. you should do the same.
I died first time. don't give up. second time was sucessful.

I can aslo confirm I just solo'd as a 73 Fire Mage.
Here's what I did:
Got up on upper cliff and waiting for him to look out onto ledge.
Frostfire Bolt and Living Bomb
Spam Fireball until 25% or more health
Mirror Images
On any proc do Pyroblast! and Fire Blast
Spam Fireball till 15k heath or so.

I did it on my first try.

I solo'd this NPC as a 77 Beast Mastery Hunter. I used Loque'Nahak as a tank and used Trap Launcher to throw an Explosive Trap on him.

I used Serpent Sting and Arcane Shot and tapped Bestial Wrath and Focus Fire when it was available to me.

He was a slow kill, but an easy one.

Solo'd as a lv 73 frost mage.

You can't freeze him with frost nova, but you can with deep freeze if you use frostbolt since technically he is 'frozen'.
Use icy veins to do quick damage, and when that runs out use cold snap to be able to re-use icy veins.

Before he is about to attack you, use mirror image, helps to bring down a lot of health. This is helpful for any build of mage

Dregmar is found halfway up the cliff to the east of Wyrmrest Temple. He is east of the Mirror of Dawn. Climb the slope of snow just to the northeast of the lake.

Dregmar is the goal of the fourth quest in a quest chain. This quest chain starts with Duane, who give the quest Canyon Chase, which asks you to kill Chilltusk, who drops Emblazoned Battle Horn which starts the first quest in this chain.

Great that all of everyone that completed it solo at levels 73-76. What you failed to say is exactly where you can find him. Go to 73..0, 50.37 in Dragonblight. There is a cave filled with bones that he "lives" in. Not hard to beat. So go get him there.
