just thought i might add that on heroic he MS's for 6k + on me

im 43 prot with 13.5 armor with pally and 510 D, pretty much every choice 5 man piece of gear and just plain wow.

An easy way to tank these is have the entire group in melee range, most of the time when the whole group is feared the aggro stays on the tank.

Should someone resist it, thats when the real trouble starts :)

Ignoring the massive damage they can do, you can simply have one of your ranged DPS be the second highest in threat and kite him until the fear wears off the tank (I did this as a mage, blink helps but you can probably manage without it).

I'm not sure if the same applies to regular SL.

These do not attack randomly. They use standard threat rules. When they use intimidating shout they will attack whoever is highest on their threat list that is not feared, otherwise they attack whomever is highest on their threat list.

The best way to tank these, assuming no fear ward, is to have everyone stand in melee range so that everyone gets feared. This will cause them to continue attacking the main tank, which will break the intimidating shout effect on them and prevent others from being attacked. If someone resists or breaks fear before the tank is unfeared, they will be attacked.

If you are a paladin tanking these it is recommended that you cast blessing of sacrifice on another party member with high armor and have them stand out of melee range. Ideally you will have another paladin healing as the first hit they take will transfer damage to you and break the intimidating shout effect.

In heroic, they have mortal strike.

When fighting one of these today I hit taunt by mistake just before he dropped Intimidating shout on us and it continued to attack me until the fear wore off. Nice when you time it right but tricky.

If it's every 30 secs then the dps readout of damage meters might tell you how long you've been fighting and when hes going to do it. (Just thought of this now, haven't tried it :P )

Edit: Seemed to drop ten and forty seconds into the fight.

No idea what you guys are talking about. I'm a prot warrior and I just tank these in the corridor before the boss. Hits hard but even when he fears he doesn't switch targets, even in heroic. Maybe it was changed in 2.4?

While I was soloing Slabs I noticed these guys don't seem to fear when you are by yourself.
