He will target someone and turn them into red riding hood, when you are red you will have increased movement and must kite him around till the buff is gone
He will usually do an aoe fear when he does this so you wont have help kiting him.

After the buff is gone the tank grabs him back and dps him ina corner

Rinse, repeat

players having the red riding hood have 0 armor and are silenced too - so either train your kiting skills or have a well prepared fraction of healers in your raid to outheal it.

in addition to that the wolf sometimes aoe fears.

the fight itself is fairly easy - just survive long enough to do enough dps on the boss.

While you have 0 armor and are silenced, some abilities are still usable:

Rogues can vanish and hunters can feign death to skip being chased when they become little red riding hood.

Mages can Ice Block to make themselves invincible for a bit then blink out of it before it wears off if things get sticky.

Having a decent amount of the new stamina heavy gear can be very important for this, as he'll hit little red riding hood for around 4k for normal hits (6k crushing, 8k crit).

Warriors can use intervene to soak up one hit from little red riding hood. If you're having trouble using intervene, check Shmeerm's macro at http://www.cuckhead.com/?spell=3411#z0z (it will allow you to just hit your intervene button with the Big Bad Wolf targeted and have it fire off on the right person).

The AOE fear can (and should be) be dispelled off of your tank. Shadow protecting the raid (or fear ward if you're alliance) helps with fear resists.

Since the wolf only has regular melee attacks, amplify magic helps with healing.

Strat:

-We had two paladins in our group, so whenever someone (aside from the MT, obviously) got RRH we BOP'd them and let them stay in place while you DPS the wolf.
-Rogues can vanish, hunters can feign death to preserve BOP's.

Easy as that, avoided running around as much as possible... only ended up kiting when it was the MT as RRH. Turns out like your standard tank and spank.

I'm not sure when they changed this as we've had the Wizard of Oz event for the past two weeks but when we got this tonight we realized that the back wall has been pushed, um, back. This stops those annoying times while kiting where you'd get stuck in the ridiculously thin gap between it and the house allowing him to catch up and obliterate the chosen Red Riding Hood.

There is a cool trick on this boss for a priest with the Spirit of Redemption talent.

If your priest get killed, he will become a spirit as usual. But, if he's the target of the little red riding hood debuff, the spirit buff will fade, ressurecting the priest permanently.

You have to tank the big bad wolf away from the fallen priest so he can have some space to run, or not only will he die, he'll have to pay double the repair cost of a usual wipe. (Excluding druid rezz ofc)

Did they change this enounter so the wolf does his swipe stun on the person with the LRR debuff? I read from alot of strategy sites that all say he doesnt do it but hes been doing to us all night. Makes the encounter alot harder..

If you are a gnome female, here's how to make your own little red riding hood disguise :

Interlaced Cowl - World loot, can be found in AH. Gnomeregan seems to be a good place to farm this.
Red Linen Shirt - Can be make by tailors very easily.
Colorful Kilt - Can be make by tailors easily. However, this is not the exact item, the item is the bottom part of the Buccaneer's Robes.

I haven't found something like this yet, but I welcome any suggestions =)

So, if your guild is about to make a killshot of that boss, it may be a fun idea to have this "set".

If you start the event and no one goes on the stage, the door will remain locked if you get Big Bad Wolf. Normally you would have to soft reset but if you clear the audience and you have someone that is pro at wallclimbing you can get ontop of the organ, on the right side of it, and jump onto the stage from there, allowing you to start the event and then letting it reset, without having to wait half an hour or whatever it is out of instance for it to reset properly (and for trash to respawn)

BBW since 2.1 is quite a bit harder to master. FD does still work along with vanish... you just have to make sure you dont res yourself whilst you have the buff.

Mind flay does seem to slow him down negligably.

The biggest change is around agro management.

The key is to not do ANY dps until the 2nd red riding hood is called. In this respect the tank will get enough agro to be returned to. Keep in mind that this will mean that the tank will be the first person to be red. KTM seemed to be a bit off for this fight so best to remain 10% below the tank in agro and you will be fine.

FYI, Piercing Howl does NOT work. Likely this is as of the last patch. If you're watching a video or reading advice on this fight and they suggest Piercing Howl to slow the wolf, it does not work.

One piece of advice to add:

When the wolf is chasing Little Red Riding Hood ("Run away, little girl!"), your tank will not get hit, so he will not get much rage, so he will not be able to build as much threat as usual. Also, the wolf will run away from your tank, again reducing the amount of threat and rage he can generate.

Therefore, get a threat meter and watch it carefully. You must not go over the tank's threat at any time. If you do, the wolf will attack you instead of the tank after he stops chasing Little Red Riding Hood ("Mmmmm. Delicious!")

Our guild just did The Big Bad Wolf and its a lot of fun
we noted a couple of key points after a couple of wipes
1) do not dps heavy at the start of the event give tank time
2) maintain steady dps throughout the fight with no spikes just a constant steady of damage this way the wolf constantly chases little red riding hood around and when he stops chasing her the tank intervenes and picks up agro easily
3) at the last 5-7% blow the crap out of him and there u go 1 dead Big Bad Wolf
Lots a fun but all must concentrate keep whom ever is red riding hood alive thru out and steady dps and this is a pushover

This event is a cakewalk if your raid is remotely competent.

Players who get the RRH debuff need to turn and start running immediately. If you start running ASAP and do not stop he will not catch you as long as you run around the outer edge. Our group lost 2 DPS to the RRH debuff but still managed to kill him in just over four minutes. It was our first time doing the event also.

When you get the debuff "little red riding hood" you must run around in the room as close to the walls as possible and not let the big bad wolf get you. If you are a hunter aspect of the cheetah helps alot. Use all the protection you can get and all speed enhancing effetcs since if he gets to you, you will certainly die.

Since patch 2.2, there is absolutely no way to get out of being little red riding hood, if you become LRRH then don't waste your time and simply run.

Trinkets, cloak, FD, BoP, bubble, nothing will get you out.

Note that the Wolf does not attack Red instantly. He first targets a victim and casts the Little Red Riding Hood debuff. Then, he goes back to the tank momentarily while he casts "Picnic Basket Smell" on himself. After that, he chases after Red.

All this means that Red has a moment to turn and run, and healers have a chance to bubble, HoT, etc., and warriors have a chance to Intervene.

slight problem with this fight, when my guild group was attacking him, the tank was switched to little red,we wiped 2 times because of the tank being targeted, but we downed him the 3rd time by haveing two people tank and hold up agro. be weary i think there are some bugs with the current patch.

Tip for tree druids: If you get the LRRH debuff, take yourself out of tree form. The speed debuff from the tree form completely negates the speed buff you get from the hood. This makes you an easy target for the wolf to get.

My raid on kara last night wiped 2 times after i got the debuff and bit the dust. 3rd time I got it, shifted out of tree form, I survived and we took him down.

While it's absolutely (and obviously) true that you don't want the Wolf to catch you while you're LRRH, it's also important not to run too far away. If you get too far ahead, he'll just cut across the middle of the stage and cut you off. This is especially true coming around the corners. You want to keep him far enough away that he won't hit you, but close enough that he stays following directly behind you and doesn't cut corners.

The main killer for this fight is not Riding Hoods dying everywhere, it's DPS not comprehending the fact that the tank can't really build threat at melee range with the wolf running around all over the place at twice his own speed.

For the love of...well, yourselves: watch your threat. Particularly if the first Riding Hood is the tank.

Clarification- nothing will get you out of the little red riding hood debuff, as Brmonkey said quite some time ago, but Feign Death and Vanish will cause The Big Bad Wolf to cease aggroing you and continue to attack the tank.

If you remove feign death or vanish, however, you'll likely have to start running again.

Though nothing will "get you out of" red riding hood-mode, you can use a bubble to negate damage. As a Holy Pally, I use Blessing of Protection on our secondary healer (a shaman) should he be targeted or Divine Shield on myself if I'm targeted.

We usually also always have a Pally Tank who can Blessing of Protection anyone you gets targeted and is of low health/bad kiting angle.

Granted we've never had a priest targeted (go figure, haha), and I don't know if their shield will work while they're targeted.

If you have the Little Red Riding Hood buff on you, don't run in a cricle; the wolf will just cut you off and eat you. Instead, run to each of the corners (all the guides I've read say to run counter-clockwise around the edge of the stage), wait until he's close to you, then run to the next corner. The debuff gives you a higher movement speed, so escaping him shouldn't be too hard (as long as your healer's ready in case he does catch up).

This encounter seems impossible to solo for my warrior. He fears more often than my berserker rage cooldown, I can barely get off two Bloodthirsts before I need to kite again. It MIGHT be possible if you rely on RNG and don't get stunned. Getting stunned during Red Riding Hood debuff is SEVERE. A single stun can take about 30-40% of my health if he does it during Red Riding Hood debuff. I use 0/31/40 with BT+Enrage Regen glyphs and protection gear.

Edit: I've tried him again recently and this encounter is still annoyingly hard, but it's killable now that I have much better gear. Just remember to strafe so that you have a chance to avoid his attacks while being the Red Riding Hood.

I just soloed this one after getting the mongoose enchant just for the heck of it.
Did it with a 80 blood Death knight tank, but it is a huge pain to do.
I figured that you can avoid taking any damage if you run at the very edge of the stage, but you have to start to run a little before you transform.
It is all on a timer, and after a whipe or two you get the feel for it.

The worst part of the fight is actually the fear and stun, which can come at really bad times, but as long as you are prepared it should be alright.

You can still drink potions, but since you can only have one per fight now you should not drink one unless you really need it.

Trick here is just to run your ass of, do that and you, your party or raid will be fine.
Have fun at grandma's ;)

I just made an attempt to solo Karazhan with my prot-paladin and met no real resistance until the opera event. There's just no way you can solo this boss. You spend 80% of the time either transformed (silenced and taking damage) or feared.

Tips for fellow death knights trying to solo this. Remember you MUST be blood spec in atleast decent tanking gear! You need the self healing and defenses from it. Don't try as frost or unholy it is not possible. Also use army of the dead before you start the event, I was able to bring him to 189k out of 265k before he even did a second little red debuff thanks to those ghouls.

Now for the tips, first make sure you are strafing while running make it so you are facing in his general direction because you can still dodge/parry etc his attacks while debuffed. Second tip, he stops chasing you when he casts the little red debuff, while it is only for a second you MUST be running as he is sitting still or you will take damage you shouldn't be taking. Third tip is to wear a pvp trinket so when he does his two attacks (fear and stun) back to back you can get out of the last one, this is important because you do not want to start in his melee range when you become little red. You have about 3-4 global cooldowns inbetween each little red phase to hit him with, they should be icy touch, plague strike, and death strike. For the forth global cooldown use a CD or heart strike.

He wont always let you have time for that though so you must be prepared to use something to gain some of your health back (blood tap, ghoul sac, mark of blood, and a potion will work). Try not to let a whole inbetween red debuff phase go without gaining some health back. This is not a dps race never exchange a ability to heal yourself for a ability to damage him.

Last tip is to never think it is impossible because while he does only need a lucky stun to make the situation dire he won't always be able to do it. Sure it seems bad that you finally have him at 50k and BAM stunned with pvp trinket on cooldown while morphed into little red and seeing the hits that do 3.6k-4k but if you keep trying you will kill him.

So remember this is a fight to see how well you can survive, never take risks even if he has 4k left when you feel little red is about to happen.

Just soloed this as an Ulduar-10 geared Feral Druid...took a touch over 10 minutes (and 4 wipes previous learning).

Basically: LRRH phase lasts 20 sec and is recast every 30, so you have 10 seconds for DPS...but you will typically be stunned or feared for 3/4 of those seconds. Glyphed SI and FR are a huge help, as is a PvP trinket, though I did it without one.

For the fight itself... start the fight behind the grandmother, as you'll be almost instantly LRRH'ed. You can cast NOTHING in LRRH, but HOT's will continue to tick..including FR. Kite along the wall...and HUG the wall/corners of the stage, or he'll cut you off. When about 1 sec is left on the timer, turn and head back. Try to keep him near the edge to make kiting easier, so when you're feared there's not much you can do. Ability priority list for your 10secs:
1. Barkskin when up (off GCD, but you can't use it while LRRH)
2. Trinket out of stun...try to save it for a stun that will overlap LRRH.
3. Berserk out of fear...try to save it for a fear that will overlap LRRH.
4. Pop SI/FR if below 50%...goal is to kite successfully enough that you don't die before they come back off cooldown.
DPS:
5. Maul
6. Mangle
7. Demo Roar
8. FFF
9. Lacerate

Once you get the kiting down, the only thing that should kill you is if you get stunned right before/during LRRH, as you'll probably lose half your HP if your trinket is down. (I did...thankfully my healing potion crit...still finished fight with 10% hp left.) Very satisfying.

Not too difficult to solo as a prot pally with the right tactics. Which mainly amounts to... don't run.

Since you'll always be in his melee range when he turns you into Little Red Riding Hood, you start with a considerable disadvantage, and you'll have a very hard time not getting hit several times while doing so. Even if it's theoretically possible, it would take a lot of patience, concentration and luck.

However, if you just stand facing the Wolf when you're in gnome form, you'll notice that your avoidance still works. Meaning that with decent tank gear, you'll dodge, parry and even block most of his attacks. And Sacred Shield can put a serious dent in the damage that remains after that. How I did it, basically:

Keep Sacred Shield up at all times, and recast it if gets below ~20 sec (having the improved talent for it really helps).
Wearing a block/threat set helps to both further mitigate his damage and bring him down faster.
Try to have Divine Plea ticking by the time he sends you into gnome form again, making it easier to stay at full mana.
Adapt your seal & judgement to the situation, probably safest to start off with light+light.
When you get low on health (<20%) the first time, bubble and heal up to full
Second time, let your Ardent Defender do its job to stretch the time a little bit, and with some luck this will carry you to the next bubble CD.
If your gear is sufficient, the above can basically be rinsed & repeated until he's dead. If you're cutting it close, Lay on Hands can bridge a difficult moment.

Edit: A slight improvement on this strategy: you can still try to take even fewer hits while in gnome form by running, just make sure you are still facing the boss while doing so. In other words, strafe (walk sideways) and turn slightly inwards so you are effectively making a large circle, and the boss remains technically "in front" for the purpose of game mechanics. Even if the boss manages to get the occasional melee strike in, you effectively multiply the reduction in the number of hits taken from your avoidance by the reduction from running and being out of range a lot of the time, making it doable to solo this fight without relying on cooldowns much. Just, whatever you do, don't ever turn your back towards the boss, as you'll lose the ability to dodge, parry or block against a boss that's still considered level 83 for combat table calculations.

Managed to solo this guy as a ret paladin without much of a problem, on my second attempt, using my 0/27/44 spec, which I've explained in detail here.

I dps'd him, and ran away along the edges of the scene like a headless chicken every time he LRRH'd me. Between each LRRH, I made sure to refresh SS, heal to full as much as I could, and use whatever precious seconds I had left to dps. Divine Shield helps a ton if you use it strategically right before you anticipate a LRRH. It'll block the LRRH and allow you to dps him for a good 40-50 seconds straight. The fight lasted maybe 6-8 minutes, so I used DS twice, and also LoH as it got hairy at one point.

Edit: Full ret might possibly be the best spec for this, since you're only taking damage for a short while, and you need all the dps you can during that period.

Another tip is to not use your pvp trinket, WotF or Every Man for Himself unless you're in a situation where you're feared/stunned AND get LRRH'd at the same time. That's where the fear/stun really hurts, and you need to break free.

Soloed as a Feral Druid! But it was a huge pain in the tush, almost as much as Malchezaar.

The fight takes a long time, mostly because you're always in Riddin' Hood form, and unable to deal damage. In Red Ridding Hood form, you have no armor, but you still benefit from Protector of the Pack, in addition to your extra health and Savage Defence procs (more on this later). You can also use any non-spell ability, such as potions, Survival Instincts, Lifeblood, and kitty form Dash.

When you open up, might as well be HoTted. Start the fight, and make sure to get a lacerate on him. This will allow Savage Defence to proc when you enter red ridding hood form, accounting for a bit of mitigation. Always blow Barkskin when you feel the shift coming on.

You're going to want to run around in a circle around him. I tried a square because it's supposed to reduce how much distance he 'clips', but it just doesn't work. Also, try to ensure he gets stuck between props. I know this sounds a little ridiculous, but he will get slowed down considerably if he runs into, say, the house. For the house, if you have a good lead, you actually want to stop for a second and let him catch up, otherwise he'll take the short route around the house.

When Red Ridding Hood falls off, you have several options. If you have a considerable lead, pop a rejuv, and back to bear (you don't want to stay in caster too long in fear of... well, fear). In bear form, your priority is to drop a lacerate, and ideally, the last move you throw on him before another Ridding Hood phase is a lacerate.

This fight will take awhile, so you may be able to use SI/Regen twice. I recommend using a straight up health potion as your main pot.

I realize my solo posts are rather long so...

TL;DR:

When in Ridding Hood, run in circles, get wolf stuck in props. When in bear, lacerate a lot.

Vriesus' guide is pretty helpful. Just want to reiterate that this is definitely doable solo, for a feral druid - among others.

Use the prop to your advantage, which means not cutting corners too sharp and, at times, waiting for him to run to it.

The 10 seconds of uptime you have, make sure to demo roar...it helps tremendously. Also attempt to make your last move a lacerate. Having that sucker ticking and procing savage defense, ILOTP helps tremendously. If you can learn to strafe rather than run, you can run from him without having your back to him. Helps reduce damage. Also, always try to use barkskin right before red riding hood phase...helps reduce more damage.

I will say I disagree with Vriesus on two points. Attempting to HOT did not do much for me, in fact twice it screwed me. Secondly, I choose to run against the walls, in a square, not a circle as he advocates. I tried both a few times and just noticed I was taking less damage by sticking to the wall. If you're going to follow my advice, however, make sure to keep an eye on where BBW is. If he's too far behind you may have to stop and let him catch up a bit, or risk him cutting into the middle and doing some damage.

Don't attempt without decent tank gear the first time, or you may end up frustrated. Just make sure to keep at it, I had to wipe 6 times before I got him down.

so this is the hardest fight ive ever come across that i have tried to solo, and barely did it

i kept letting him catch up to make it interesting, and literally it came down to the very end, i still had my ardent defender debuff, and used my pots + CDs + LoH already, and had just 2400 hp left he had 3100 so i bubbled and finished him i actually had fun in this fight =)

Can be soloed by a holy paladin, its almost no challenge but takes like 30 minutes.

You just run around, keep sacred shield up and shock on cd.
If your health is not full you shock yourself, if it is you shock him.
You'll have some spare gcds, spend them as you wish to speed things up.

If you are an engineer you can use Nitro Boosts even in gnome form.

If you are a paladin (And I am guessing DK), this is a really annoying boss to solo and will take 10+ minutes (With awesome gear, I personally take almost 15, but I am not geared well). You only get 5-10 seconds to deal damage to him, and he will fear AND stun you within those 5-10 seconds, then he will make you Red Riding Hood for 20 seconds in which you are helpless.

You can't bubble out of Red Riding Hood, however, you can put bubble up beforehand and when he uses the spell it will fail to do anything. Wait about 5 seconds after returning to normal, then use it. Take it off after another 7 or so (So you go back to 100% damage), and you will have about a free 20 seconds to beat on him.

Once you get a rhythm going, he shouldn't be hard, just an endurance battle, just play it safe, don't be reckless and he will die without too much trouble.

Just soloed this on my rogue. Wasn't very hard, just keep recuperate up so it would heal you full when kiting boss around. Used 3/31/2 specc with imp recuperate and reinforced leather and 264 dps gear.

Solo'd the Big Bad Wolf as a ret paladin. As Ethlin mentioned, you can't bubble while you are little red riding hood, but you can bubble before hand. I went all out dps on him and managed to kill him right as he turned me into LRRH again.

Shadowmourne helps. As does reforging for a boat load of mastery rating. If you don't have these things, you might need to kite around for a while until you can set yourself up to burst him a 2nd time.

Is his model updated to the new Worgen skins? I would imagine so.

I have not been able to solo this on my 85, heroic-tank geared druid. It might just be user error, though.

I decided to run my lvl 85 'lock through Kara for rep points and netherweave (switched professions and discovered the joy of steady income from netherweave bags). I vastly underestimated this guy based on my experiences with the other bosses up to that point.

It was hard to get anything done with the debuffs because all of them hit my cartoon. So, after my wipe, I respecced to Demonology. I also checked all my cooldowns and made a sandwich while waiting to have a clean slate (soulstone, healthstone, etc.) Just as I started the event, I had the felguard up, was in demon form, threw a fast doom on the wolf, and hurled an infernal down before my first debuff. The Ebon Imp came up for extra juicy goodness. I also had popped a high level Scroll of Protection because I just needed some armor while running around in that little red cape.

Solo'd as 85 Blood DK at ilvl 325.

Laid diseases on him as soon as possible, ran the perimeter of the stage as Red Riding Hood, then after the debuff wore off, I hit Death Strike as often as possible to recoup some health. Repeated this for a bit till health started getting down to about 40%. Used Army of the Dead to continue DPS while in RRH mode.

Soloed this on my fresh 85 Prot Warrior this afternoon in the Bloodthirsty Pyrium gear. The only epic items I had equipped were the two +510 stam Direbrew trinkets (with the maidens).

Took me a couple tries, but I finally nailed it. I used enraged regeneration as soon as it would heal me to full. Activated shield block as often as I could (you can activate it even when pacified) and used Berserker Rage to keep myself from being feared. My goal was to last long enough to use enraged regeneration a second time, that was the key. I also had Blood Craze at max, I'm sure that helped too.

With some better gear this fight should be quite easy albeit annoying. Cheers!

I just solo'd the Big Bad Wolf with my level 85 Fury Warrior (a worgen to boot) on the first try. Its pretty easy, just run away when you are Little Red Riding Hood to avoid too much damage (Try running around in big loop on stage). When your health is down half way try and use your Enraged Regeneration before you get LRRH again. And, use Berserker Rage when he fears you.

Running Kara today for kicks. Ret pal, just hit him a few times before the RRH buff hits, 5 stacks of Censure will finish him off by the time the buff wears off.

This encounter will bug if you try to insta-kill the wolf with Touch of Death or a massiv crit.
We had to soft-reset the raid to be able to continue (leave instance, leave grp, reset instances and wait 30min).

So make sure the boss transform you or your friend(s) to Red Riding Hood, then kill it.

If you're soloing this at 90 with a pet class make sure to dismiss your pet. If you get turned into Red Riding Hood instantly and your pet kills the mob, he despawns and you get no loot!

Soloed this on my 90 spriest. Put two DoTs on the wolf, got turned into Little Red Riding Hood and started running. Next thing I know, he's dead, I'm out of combat, and there's no loot.

Looks like it's bugged if he dies and you're the only one there and in LRRH form.

Quick way to this. Just at the dungeon entrance, take the stairs behind the friendly NPC Berthold the Doorman, go to the Banquet Hall and kill Moroes.
Go back towards the dungeon entrance and take the very first passage, next to the friendly NPC Hastings the Caretaker. Progress through the corridor at the top-left, you'll reach The Guest Chambers, turn immediately to the right into the Banquet Hall, and keep goingtowards then round the Opera stage taking the right branch around ; you will arrive below, then behind the Opera stage, speak to the friendly NPC named Barnes The Stage Manager and tell him you are not an actor (this dialogue option is not available if you haven't kill Moroes, instead Barnes tells you something about no shows because of the Moroes situation). He will open the door to the stage and introduce the spectacle ; it is random between several so you may not get the Grandmother each time.

So first we had a good olden big bad wolf face off, he tought he had me with his 20 second female gnome polymorph but I returned!

I stabbed, kicked and stabbed some more. After an epic battle between worgens with power beyond imagination the beast was down. And there was the audience, clapping and cheering for me. But that's when I saw it.

I could skin this mongrel! And there we went, got some nice skin upon our phat loot. And that's when it hit me. I just skinned an actor infront of the whole audience.

A word of warning for those soloing this (for transmog etc. ahem... Wolfslayer Sniper Rifle) If you have a pet... DISMISS it.

I went to solo this last night on my 90 Worgen Hunter and had my pet out. As soon as he cast Red Riding Hood on me I was incapacitated and wasn't able to hit him. So my pet then proceeded to kill him...

Not such a bad thing, except because I hadn't managed to hit him, I didn't get any credit for the kill and I was unable to loot...

EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!
