I prefer to play the ranged damage class in most RPGs because I enjoy the having the ability to kill and damage my opponents from a distance where they can't reach me until it is to late and they are dead.
Stealth characters. Always stealth characters. Generally a utility heavy stealth characters if the game offers that.
Definitely a bersker/barbarian/warrior type. Charging in and just massacring everything.
Rogue or whatever passes as stealthy type...nothing says fun like shanking someone in the giblets.
I enjoy a melee fighter, but I dont play alot of RPG's, only DArk Souls :p
I was always played melee damage classes but now I've started 1 ranged class and hell, that's way more fun: overview, time to think & better looking gear.
From shooting massive fireballs in your enemies face to conjuring demons to take them out while you hide behind a wall. From wielding staves larger than your body itself to transforming enemies into funny little creatures with powers from the staff. From dying off of a cliff because you wear cloth armor to your friends surviving off of the cliff because they wear heavy armor and laughing about it. From standing in the back of the group mashing buttons with one hand, eating chips with the other without worry of death to having some of the most phenomenal spell graphics ive seen, the caster is the class i always play in an rpg. Mages, warlocks, whatever is available in the game i usually pick.
I usually pick the strange class types if there is one, or I pick the range class with the heavy nuke like a sniper or burst mage. It's really rare for me to pick a melee class in an RPG.
I always play a rogue if available if not then whatever is closest to it or a paladin.
I play to kind of roles in RPGKnight / warrior: i love to be the one thats got the job of Taunt / piss off the mobs so they will try and kill me instead of my teammatesHealer: i love to watch out for my teammates and make sure they stay alive so we together can defeat the monsters in the world.
I like to play a melee class. I have been playing a tank class in wow and would interested in a change in a new game. I thank you for this oppertunity and thanks for all the good work you do here at wowhead!
definitely a Warrior, with a big axe :D
I usually play the mage class :)
In my experience of RPG's, I don't tend to stick to one particular class, but I will go for the classes which get to hit lots of buttons, and are usually quite fast paced. This is usually refined to ranged/melee classes, but sometimes the odd caster, aslong as it can do something, besides stand there and spam frostbolts. This helps keep me versatile, I can tank, do damage, or heal, as long as I have fun doing it, and don't get bogged down casting spells. ._.
