I've tried many different classes but always come back to casters. Warlock in WoW and EQII, Spiritmaster in Aion, Pyromancer/Elementalist/Archon in Rift.
I usually play a warrior but like to switch to a mage for the magic rush

I almost always play a melee damage type, up close and getting it done. Though at times I do play a ranged physical damage dealer if it's available for a change of pace.
In fantasy RPGs I like to play rogue-type characters, in modern - sniper-type. I like to solve problems with opponents one blow or shot :-)
Ranger all the way! But not the archery based class, the dual-wield melee/caster hybrid like the Rangers of EverQuest.
Usually play a thief.
A melee dps class, often Rogue type of class. Nothing beats the joy of finding a big new axe or a stylish new dagger to me.
Wizards or Rogues, or both if possible. Wizards make stuff go boom, and the roguish player can really feel the full spectrum of the morality choices in games. that and they go stabby stabby.
I have always prefer Wizards type classes in RPG but strangely enough I don't play Mage in WOW!
Huntress! Every other class I try I end up going back and making another huntress. I love it! love the pets, love taming, stalking, exploring. :)
Caster, usually a mage or a warlock or similar.
I like playing Healers because healing is the most difficult role (imo) in a Mmorpg.
I have always preferd range be it a hunter type or caster. The challenge is to find the right combination to increase your damage.
Druid, or any nature based type character. Druids, shamans, rangers -- anything in tune with nature or animals. Sometimes I'll pick a cleric type class, especially if the cleric has some sort of nature based power.
I usually play the class that is either different, underplayed, or underpowered. Barring that, I find myself enjoying melee casters (ie enhancement shaman)
Tend to go with the casters, much prefer ranged dps or healing to melee dps :) And what's not to love about standing at the edges of the fray, shooting fireballs or huge shards of ice at enemies? :) Love healing too, even if most of the time you're under-appreciated and often abused ;)
Usually either a caster class or healer. Much easier to survive flinging spells at something thats not right in your face.
