I'd be careful with 'rewarding players' for successfully interrupting an enemy cast. Because then you're gonna have arguments like "Hey son of a gnoll, you stole my interrupt! I needed that +30 Rage for my dps-cycle!"Making the abilities able to wipe a group more obvious without needing BigWigs or DBM would be awesome, though. Blizzard does do that, but not always, and when they do, it's not consistently well done.
Part of the reason I feel that Sepulcher was so hard was a combination of last three bosses were untested and as usual them having create crazy mechanics to counter add-ons in the endless battle.I mean when WF raiders have a person paid on standby to write a WA to deal with a mechanic as they raid kinda tells you how crazy it's getting.
y no. if people want to be jerks they will always find something to belittle the others for, i have no idea why he is focusing on a single hatewhat is, needed is humans who mess with the playerbase and breathe fear of insta-karmalike the police irl.. they ain't catch enough ppl but do keep them in checkand let's be real in an env people can screw up the others with nothing they can do against them and no consequences.. anarchy will reign supreme, as it has for the last 15+ years ;d
Toxicity goes through filters. First filter is the games design, if the game doesn't punish 4 other players for 1 players mistake people won't be toxic about that mistake (probably, at least you've filtered some of it out). Second filter is the community itself. If people don't stand for that type of behaviour and self police, you filter out more toxicity. Finally GMs are the last filter. If being toxic results in a ban, you've filtered out some toxicity. I would say you need all three filters in place. Any one would at least help, but all three is what makes game communities (and there are other games that are online community driven games that don't have this problem, it's not just universal) so good. At this point WoW is missing all three filters. 1. The game design punishes players for not living and breathing WoW, any mistake can cost a key in M+, etc etc. It's a hostile design for new players and casuals. 2. The community seems pretty much fine with the toxicity. Stuff like the Raider.io integration which definitely increases toxicity are pretty well liked because it "helps you save time". Basically the design has trained people to be hostile to new players and attracted people who are just hostile by nature. 3. There are nearly no GMs. Tickets go unanswered for long periods of time. Bans don't happen outside of mass reporting of a single player (which is like... it's own problem). All that said I think the first filter is the most important. If the design of the game encourages toxicity it will bubble up and the last two layers can't really fight that. Start there, move upwards.
The opposite end of the spectrum is people that feel entitled to clear the same content as others, without putting in the same amount of effort. If you don't bother to learn mechanics, and fail repeatedly because of it, of course people are going to get mad at you. I'm not toxic, I tend to just be quiet and move on after a scuffed key. But I've seen so many people come into higher keys without an inkling of how any of the mechanics work, wipe repeatedly, and get yelled at. I guarantee those people walk away without any self reflection, just "Oh, it was someone elses issue" and continue to blunder keys until they eventually meet someone that over does it. But people really need to take some responsibility for how they act in keys, on both sides. Its well known that high M+ and Mythic raiding is difficult content, so come prepared for it.
Agree with a lot of the video.Keys not being timed and wasting 30 mins is punishment enough.Lowering the key level only punishes the person who put up their key. It’s also annoying when you know after the first pull that you won’t time it and someone leaves, tho maybe more ppl should list as ‘completion’ to properly set expectations.Depletes should NOT lower a key, at least for 20s and under - I wouldn’t mind if it was for over 20s too, but maybe pushers feel differently idk.
To bring up the "more tanks" point I think a big problem Shadowlands suffered and to a degree still stuffers from is how terrible tanks were balanced compared to the rest of the game. We started Shadowlands unable to tank normally and having to use advanced kite strategies in on level content with our gear. If I was a 220 tank in season one there was no way in hell I should have needed to kite a non fortified group of mobs in a +15 without Necrotic. In addition to that Tank DPS was all over the place. We had DHs doing more damage then a number of DPS and BDK doing less then a fifth of that damage in the same level of gear. On top of that the threat generation ratios were set very low compared to BFA were the HoA gave us increased threat gen. For a time we were back to "HEY don't attack this stuff until I have cycled all of my abilities to generate threat.Non of that was "fun" It was probably the worst state of tanking the game has seen since its early years. Couple that with almost all of the bosses in CN being more or less the same song and dance tanks have every raid we had a super un fun patch for tanks. This turned a number of players away from wanting to play a tank going forward in to the expansion.
So people need to always be treated perfectly you are saying? Apparently you haven't lived in the real world. Its called learn to ignore the bad seeds they will always exist. Why is its Blizzard's problem? I have run thousands of keys and the unjustified toxicity i have seen i could count on one hand. Most people running into this issue are doing content they are not prepared for.
They can remove alot of the toxicity by letting us report the trolls/bads with actual consequences for them. if you suck so hard you need to be kicked from a run because your presence makes the entire run fail then you should get a mark and when you get enough of them you get banned for a month from having anything to do with any kind of group activity. this will defuse the people that feel they need to vent on the idiot because they can just kick the idiot and hope they hit their troll limit and prevented from tormenting another group.
