In our previous
World of ArtCraft Community Creations
roundup, we highlighted a gorgeous piece of Elwynn Forest by
imaDreamwalker
, a prolific artist whose work includes locations from around the World of Warcraft in the style of Dungeons & Dragons book covers. Their latest piece,
Razor Hill
, recently made its rounds on Reddit, and this is a great time to showcase the rest of their outstanding work.
You can see imaDreamwalker's art is laid out in the style of a book cover, specifically reminiscent of Dungeons & Dragons Adventures, Modules, and Dungeon Crawl campaign books. One key difference however is that D&D art typically emphasizes a larger than life creature or character in the center frame, while for the most part imaDreamwalker's work balances the characters and environmental art together. This difference not only deemphasizes those characters, but also adds more depth and sense of scale to the environment itself. Of course, these are just art pieces rather than actual books themselves, but they might also remind you of the unfortunately short lived Warcraft Roleplaying Game books; while no longer canon, they at one time added a great deal of depth and lore to the game world. There's also a nice bit of symmetry here, as like many fantasy games, a good portion of World of Warcraft's original design was itself based on Dungeons and Dragons.
All of imaDreamwalker's art is fantastic and worthy of a post in it's own right, but there's simply too much to showcase here, so please take a look at their
DeviantArt
or
Imgur
albums, where you can find multiple versions of each piece in different layouts, both with and without cover text. And if you're as big a fan of these pieces as we've become, you should absolutely check out
Dreamwalker's store
or
Patreon
, where you can buy full sized posters and prints!
