Or, and hear me out, Blizzard could rotate what day of the week a season launches. Even if it was 2 Tuesday seasons for every 1 Friday season it'd be a step in the right direction. Also not sure why Blizzard is using an outdated idea of what work/life balance looks like. Not everyone wants to do a Monday-Friday and you can both ask your current employees what they'd like AND maybe hire people who'd want to work non-Banker hours.
3.5 days of downtime between seasons seems reasonable honestly. And yes, I know ending right as peak play starts for the week, aka weekends, is a weird thing.
i personally like fridays but that could be because i played alot of D3 where seasons landed on fridays. i kinda like my diablo hype on fridays and wow hype on tuesdays lol but all in all i dont care too much i guess so whatever works :P
The title seems a bit misleading, no? There is a tweet in the article from Adam stating they plan to release later in the week in future seasons... season 3 even ends on a Friday. Yet the title is "Seasons Will Continue to Release on Tuesdays"... why?
I am having a really hard time understanding why some people would prefer a delay in the release...they cant start the season 2 days later?Seems like a selfish idea to make everyone wait a few days...the sooner the better.
Honestly, if you HAVE to have 72 hours free to play the game when a new season launches - then just book off the time. Tuesday makes perfect sense from a developer pov to launch a new season for a live service. For the players? lol for this fanbase's players? Yeah, Tuesday is perfectly fine. Diablo IV isn't an olympic race that you only have 1 chance to compete in every 4 years. It's a game. Chill out. Tuesdays are fine. God forbid people want to spend time with their family / freinds on the weekend...
So everyone hating on my comment here only know people that work Monday-Friday and they all love it apparently. Not having the exact schedule every time (but still a known schedule so folks can plan in advance) is huge for employees. Have you tried scheduling appointments for a weekend or later in the day, it can be an absolute nightmare. And I'm not talking just talking medical appointments, you got vet appointments, deliveries. You've got people that their significant other might not have a monday-friday work week so maybe this frees up a date night during the week. Also congrats if you've got weekdays off, enjoy shopping during the week or going to the movies when there's way less folks. And yeah some people love their weekends but doesn't mean a weekend has to be Saturday and Sunday. Blizzard should check with their employees (hah!) and if they all want to keep it the way it is that's fine but it always feels like the corporate folks make decisions without consulting the workers and ignoring the feedback from consumers they already got.
In other news, I wonder how the rest of the company that has to work weekends feels about this. Notably the WoW team, especially those that might be required to hotfix for a mythic raid race.
