I hope this add-on proves very popular, and that Blizzard takes the message to heart. I'm one of those players who is not the fastest to understand a mechanic, who often needs to see and practice it a few (or more) times to get it right, and who is embarrassed to screw up 24 other players while doing so. It's even less fun when getting yelled at for it. But I'm not lazy and would totally enjoy a chance to learn in peace and then be able to take my skills to the group once I'm ready.
Zoelia is trolling just ignore her/him.This is a great idea, It's like an interactive youtube video that shows how a raid encounter works.
This is a fantastic concept. One of the personal benefits I have found running Torghast is that I learn how to play my class more effectively. It's good to be able to practice moves without feeling like you're dragging down other players sometimes.
this was so much needed
It's drawing pictures out of combat, where button pushes change those pictures. It's playing tetris by yourself in game. The fact someone's made in replicate a couple of in game mechanics is moot. There's little case for disabling it, and without disabling all drawing of anything on screen, or all key interaction,I get that practicing a mechanic in Phase 4 without getting to phase 4 every time would speed up progression, but without the full context of a raid full of people with mechanics firing off left, right and centre, while target swapping and managing your rotation - you're really only getting the understanding of how the mechanic works and what it looks like, saving a -few- pulls to that part of the fight, or the rng of never getting picked to be the bomb, rather than gaining masses of experience you can usually only get 7 minutes into a fight. That someone can hop out of game and have a play on a simulator elsewhere with similar assets - doing it out of combat in game, by yourself in a sub-window only you can see, is identical. There's pretty much no case for disabling it, nor an obvious way to do so without preventing or seriously hindering all showing of any pictures or responding to any key presses.Any high level team is going to be quite happy doing a few pulls to see things in practice, and will have likely all seen the mechanics in high def video as well, and be very quick on the uptake. This is more useful for the less experienced audience who want or need a confidence boost and to see what a mechanic looks like and make sure they understand it before diving in to a group activity where they don't understand what to do and don't want to get yelled out - it's very cool, :)
I've always wished they added some sort of training simulation into the game so you practice the mechanics for raids (and maybe dungeons and pvp, why not?). If it can help some people get to know the fight a little before starting out on the encounter proper, then I'd welcome it with open arms. Also, can't say I care much for a clickbait video being advertised on the article.
Blizzard needs to hire the people who designed this. It could easily be implemented as Proving Grounds 2.0.Giving people a way to practice some of the more... gimmicky mechanics (looking at you Xanesh) is so healthy for the game.
Or you could just go into the raid.
