I think the one I worked the most for was Robe of the Void
An Epic battle i had recently...me and 3 other guildies were 4 maning ZG. Druid, Mage, War, and Resto Shaman (Me). Well we cleared everything to the Undead boss and then pulled him...right away it didn't look good. The Mage and Druid died real fast from the Mind Control confusion leaving me and the Warrior to duo it down.20 min and at least 30 Mind Control/sacrifices/running away from the boss, warrior, and many skellys later we got him down. Most fun I ever had in ZG.
I've been punching out thunder lizards with my bare hands. Seems pretty epic to me.

The most epic loot drop I have ever seen is back in vanilla wow when I was helping a real-life friend farm the Hand of Justice from BRD. It was an extremely low drop rate and arguably the best rogue trinket at the time. Every night, we would get together and run BRD up to Angerforge repeatedly. We did this for at least a month, and when it finally dropped, we went absolutely nuts.
yesterday someone seriously sold me a titansteel destroyer for 500 gold... EPIC!
The most epic piece of loot I've received is my Titansteel Destroyer that my guildies provided mats for so that I wouldn't have to tank Naxx with an awful green mace.
http://www.cuckhead.com/?item=44311 was my most epic drop. I was farming Chunk o' Mammoth an Worm meat in storm peaks and then it dropt from a Mammoth. Now my Rouge is happy with it ^^
My most epic piece of loot HAS to be that time I ninja looted King's Defender in Kara on my pally tank after my dad had waited 4 months for his... He's still waitingRemember! A family that tanks together spanks together!
I remember when I was about level 63. I thought I would try to solo Blackrock Depths to see how far I could get.I had only been there a time or 2 before and thought I would explore. I had made it to the hound room with out incident. I had never been in that room before and being overly confident because I had done so well so far I just walked in and attacked the first Bloodhound I saw. The next thing I know they were all over me and here comes Houndmaster Grebmar, who i didn't see because he was behind the pillar. I Consecrated trying to use an AoE to neutralize the Bloodhounds and focused on Grebmar backing my way to the edge of the Consecrate and back into the doorway, pulling a Fireguard that was out in the hall. I used every heal I had, running myself out of Mana and eventually downed every thing, almost at the cost of my life.Up to this point i just ignored the loot of the bloodhounds. They only dropped vendor trash. I went to click on Houndmaster Grebmar to loot him and accidentally clicked on a Bloodhound instead. Low and behold it dropped a Bloodrazor. Chills ran up my spine I had wanted that weapon forever. It was my first random epic drop off a mob that I thought only dropped trash. From that day forward I checked every mob for loot even if I only thought it dropped junk.Unfortunately I had out grown the sword by almost 20 levels so I ended up selling it for more money than I had ever had at the time, which I ended up saving to help pay for my Journeyman Riding Skill and Ebon Gryphon when I reached level 70.
