I would have to say my most "Epic Loot" was when I ran Stratholme and had Elemental Mage Staff and Skullflame Shield both drop for me. It made my day. I ended up sending the shield to my warrior alt who was a few levels to go to equip it and put the staff up on AH for some quick gold. Kind of an old instance, but it still made me happy to have those drop.
Definitely my Disgusting Oozeling from the very first oozing bag that dropped from the oozes in WP. I was thinking "wow, I will spend a life here farming for the pet, it could be on that bag..." *opens* "..."
Most epic loot story had to be in AQ40 back before The Burning Crusade came out. We were having people fall like flies left and right to Ouro; His ground tremors were eating raid members by the second and when all hope seemed lost, our warriors chain executed and with some fancy footwork we downed the ugly SOB :P He dropped the epic Larva of the Greatworm after months of no Huhu bow, I out-rolled my hunter class lead and to this day still have my full T2.5 and Larva of the Greatworm. Fun to look back at old world content, some amazingly fun times!
The most epic loot i have ever gotten would have to be, While running ZA trying to get all four chests after the 3.0 patch just for the extra ring we get to the 3rd boss, the dragonhawk boss, and we were like how come the healer is always low on mana. Someone said something about it in vent when we realized the shaman that was supposed to be resto was actually enhancement. We had cleared the first 3 bosses with just 1 healer and said what the heck lets try the 4th too. We ended up killing the 4th boss with 10mins or more left on the timer and no wipes. I got the DPS ring and was happy about that but was more pumped about the healer healing us the entire animal boss part of ZA.

The most epic loot I've seen was a Warglave on our first ever Illidan kill. But the most epic I've ever gotten was Old Iron Jaw. Not epic in reward obviously, but epic in time it too for me to fish that son of a trout out of the water.
Easily Rhok'delar, Longbow of the Ancient Keepers. Getting this bad boy was like an initiation for all hunters back before entering Blackwing Lair. And I got it before the patch that drastically lowered the despawn rate of the 4 demons from basically 12 hours to something like 30min. For what it took to get this weapon, this bow should have been legendary. For those who don't know, go here:http://www.cuckhead.com/?item=18713#commentsIt took something like 3 or 4 weeks to complete the entire series with all the preparation and strategy needed before hand. Each demon required serious focus and perfect execution to kill, and you only had a short time window before it would despawn for another 12 hours (which is why so many hunters hated it when people intervened, causing it to despawn!) After killing each demon, you got this huge sense of satisfaction that was rarely matched in the game from any other quest. My favorite was Klinfran the Crazed. Most difficult quest ever.
My most epic drop was the Mighty from the Panther boss in the good old Zul'Gurub.I have been farming that instance for months, and it NEVER dropped when i was in the raid at the boss. After 3 months, everybody in the guild laughed at the tought of "Gorund lol the guy that never drops the staff at the panther!", and even if I had dropped a better staff i was still going to any ZG run in my guild in order to get the staff. Finally, on December 8th 2006, the boss dropped "my" staff and I was the only druid in the raid so i didn't have to pass it because i had a better equip:PI remember that loot as the most epic because of all the raids i joined and all the jokes on Gorund and the Will of Arlokk in my guild, and i still have it in my inventory, and whenever my mouse drops on it I smile as i remember the entire "story" of that loot.
One of the most epiq things I have experienced must have been when WotLK was released, at the midnight opening. It was cold, but no one cared, since it was such a big event. Me and 3 of my friends went there 4 hours early, but the line still was over a block long. Later, when the clock was nearing 12, chaos broke out in the line. originaly, the line was seposed to go straight past a street, not following the corner. But some jackass confused someone else in the line, so the line started moving around the corner of the building. Then there was this employee that said to us that the line was seposed to follow the street, not the building. The people that earlier had been back in the line had now moved up to the position were we had been earlier, and they refused to move. Long story short, we blocked that road for about 30 minutes, making it impossible for cars to pass.
The most EPIC loot i've ever gotten was my Tier 5 shoulders on my warlock. Our guild has been running TK for a while and had Void Reaver on farm for a while. Well anyway... this was one of those days when stuff didn't go so smoothly. We kill the trash etc. and eventually get to him. While we were fighting him, people were dying left and right. Eventually there were only a few of us alive and from what I remember he was at very low hp and I had a Curse of Doom on him... After a little bit, there was only a holy pally and myself. VR then aggros to me and I die and he goes for the holy pally. She then bubbles and my Curse of Doom kills him.
