Yeah, it's time to peel this band-aid and cripple 3rd party mods and apps, start dolling out the bans to high profile RWF people who use ^&*! like this. We already saw where this leads back in Hellfire Citadel. Nobody wants the difficulty of the game to be designed around the capacities of the most powerful 3rd party tools. What are we even doing anymore.Honestly, this game's community is full of clowns who would buy their way into a raid slot and then have a bot run their character just so they could brag about an achievement or piece of loot nobody will care about in 6 months, and Blizzard needs to start identifying and culling that herd.
Always funny to see people claim "they raid mythic without WA or similar addons and they don't have a disadvantage" ... I really want to see one of these guys / girls / helicopters play Neltharion mythic without any kind of addon and not getting carried. If Bli$$ard would just make abilities easier to see (i.e. cleaves, frontals and all that) and give a reasonable explaination, how you should react and coordinate a raid of 20 with the bombs on Nel (and other similar mechanics with short reaction times, try ending results if played wrong and require about ~20% of the raid to play like a practiced dance) - without addons - it would be fantastic. fun fact: they can't, because raiding - mythic, without getting carried - is not possible, if you don't use addons to fix their visual / mechanical shorcomings ...
just add 10-20 secs to the writing of the advanced combat log. should make any of these pointless
This is exactly the same as a child who has straight F's all of a sudden finding out about ChatGPT and now becoming an *A (note the asterisk). What's the fun in this? How do you develop? This is exactly people sit like empty shells on their chairs wanting MOAR content--- they skip through the fun stuff.
God please just stop designing fights where people need 15 weakauras and 300 different addons to deal with mechanics. This is why I stopped playing retail. Maybe retail isn't just for me anymore. Maybe I'm just too stupid for retail WoW. It's hard for me to learn to play a new class. I have to pay attention to a perfect rotation because in retail you can't just push what you think is the perfect rotation and parse 70%. Older versions I could just kind of hit whatever and do decent damage. Learning rotation, Learning fights. Dodging 30 mechanics in a raid. It's just too much. At least for me. It's just my opinion of course, alot of people may enjoy it.I always think about doing the new raid and go hop in and do it once and get overwhelmed. I just miss the good ole days where mechanics were more simple. They don't have to all be target dummies.
As PCs keep getting more and more powerful, any "external" overlays will only be more commonly used and I don't think there's a way for Blizz to stop/ban those Apps.As some suggested, either delaying the info in Advanced Combat Log or perhaps splitting the info into two separate type of logs. One only for Player's abilities, for them to upload/analyze on a site like warcraftlogs and a second Log ONLY for boss abilities/mechanics that would be fully encrypted and locked for anyone else to access at least during the combat, if not ever.
Seems like every one of those options hinges on the live combat log. All blizzard would need to do is either disable it entirely, or delay the data flowing into the file. The functionality woudl remain, being able to track stats near real time, but not giving any advantage.
I honestly don't know how Blizzard can ban this. This app reads directly from your combat log.
Bliz is just going to make advanced combat logging output to file only after combat ends.
Make better fights, simple. IDK why they think lately that obnoxious & annoying = good difficult.
Incoming "x" second delay on advanced combat logs
The easy fix is to just not print the combat log file in real time. Even a few seconds of delay would break this. However, I'd really just much rather Blizzard stop making mechanics that drive people to even make these things, maybe it would be okay if all the world 2000 guilds got their Cutting Edge in 6 weeks instead of 6 months. The constant insanity of this "arms race" of making Mythic be just on the edge of requiring perfect play/gear/comp is one of the biggest things that made me quit raiding. Mythic Uldir progression is the only time in my entire life I've ever fallen asleep at my computer, or while playing a video game; just because it was so boring to reattempt some of the bosses over and over.
I don't see what the star augur method vid is supposed to show? That looks like friendly nameplate customisation (which was broken/fixed after nighthold) and not something the overlay would do. Although a different solution to the mechanic could probably be done using overlays.
I honestly belive that if you haven't done Nelth mythic, your opinion doesn't matter, its not that people wanna use this type of WA its that is the only way of doing this boss
