Gotta say they look like all the "bros" that got Blizz in trouble to begin with. And don't think I didn't notice that the only female in the company is a dog...'nuff saidWhen all the legally permissible documents are released, I'm sure we will see these bros...either that or they have a very good sense that most of the gamers don't really care. Let's see how it shakes out.
Tbh, unless any ex-Blizz led companies actually publish a solid game and make a debut as game companies, it's just a way to advertise their newfound company.Bonfire, Second Dinner, who else? All saying we from Blizz and got ideas, but in reality no real fruit to be had yet.Really hoping to see some results instead of their former name tags dominating the title of a game article.Good luck tho.
The criticism I have with all these studios (this one and the others) is that they're NOT demonstrating to have learned from recent events. They either have a mismatch of female representation OR none at all such as with this company. Also, at risk of a lot of backlash, but as it stands I don't care really. If you're going to criticise this company, any other company, or even Blizzard Entertainment in how they regard women or female employees or treat female players or anything of the sort, lay off with the notion of "G.I.R.L." - the so-called and rather outdated "girl in real life" meme that's been present in the World of Warcraft game since its inception. The male to female ratio is about 50/50 split (almost at least, it's maybe 52% vs 48% based on which source you look at https://www.statista.com/statistics/232383/gender-split-of-us-computer-and-video-gamers/ "In 2021, women accounted for 45 percent of gamers in the United States, up from 41 percent of U.S. gamers identifying as women during the previous year." (In a news article they said that the ratio is 52% vs 48% across the world. So this studio and ALL THE OTHERS including Blizzard Entertainment as well Square Enix need to be aware of this growing trend of more female players, and those female players want to see themselves represented within the ranks all these companies. Female players deserve female developers to admire and look up to. Male players need to lay off with their own behaviour of assuming there are no female players... especially if you've been critical of recent events. It's a bit rich if in one breath you demand better treatment of female staff and then in the next breath crack the "G.I.R.L. joke" (which is NOT a joke these days). These companies need to cater for male, female, non-binary players or whatever they do doesn't matter because if they're only catering for the player of a decade ago they're outdated even before they've began their work. That's what I hope this and other companies REMEMBER but I do wish them the best of luck and look forward to what they might bring as games...
A lot of DotA players, hell yeah!
Not a single woman. I wonder why? Also not a single one of these new groups has even announced anything it seems. When will they actually you know... do something?
So if all of these studios, on the one hand, comprised of former wow devs with no toxic leadership are failing to produce anything even closely resembling wow (let's say they have a lot of talent but little resources), and then, on the other side, Blizz themselves failing miserably to provide a decent wow experience (in this case there are plenty of resources and little talent), is it safe to say that the Wow we used to love and care about was just a kind of a fluke, a miraculous coincidence that they have no idea or ability to reproduce and/or maintain?
when I see the screenshot, I thought of Onyxia's loading screen. LOL
"Ohh this game is nice, really fun to play, lets look who are the geniuses that made this game....oh no! No representation? Racist, misogynist, fascist game!".You guys are sickened with that agenda, its not even a big team to begin with. Was there discrimination? No, you dont have any sign of that, but just assume it beforehand and make judgements(Oh right, now that preconception looks like racism and so on) , making use of bigotry studies that try to change the reality of the world to say that are more woman gaming than man, when anyone who actually lives in that world can clearly see how far it is from the truth, but who you gonna believe, the "scientific" research or your own eyes?
But considering that some of them just left in 2020 when Blizzard was already under investigation, its troubling they don't have any women and/or minorities on staff so far. Of course women and minorities are capable of starting their own ventures, but the 'bro' culture is what got Blizzard in trouble and a group of possible 'bros' creating a new studio under a new name isn't a solution.
