I think this is great and will sign up.:)
I dread the potentiality of this ending up like the FFXIV Mentor system. Most of the applicants are legitimately toxic players who simply want the fancy title and make 0 effort to guide new players. 99% of Mentors I've come into contact whilst playing will force new tanks to rush dungeons, berate new healers on using "the wrong spells" or "not giving them enough healing" and have openly mocked others for BEING new. I fear that this will encourage extremely toxic behaviour from the "guides" and the system shouldn't even be implemented in the first place.
I love the idea, it might be odd for some, but I actually like teaching the ropes to the newcomers
This is going to be a *!@# show... Obviously.
useless criteria, could have demanded something more complicated, not this 60th level and bfa pathfinder part one
GMs job isnt to help new players. lol
This is awesome!
On one hand I like this because I like helping people when I have nothing better to do... On the other hand - didn't Blizzard hire and pay people for this in the past? Helping players understand stuff was part of what GMs used to do.
Lots of people worried about toxic behavior, can't say I think that's AS big of a thing as people imagine it being.I'm more worried about people being legitimately clueless, there seems to be no barrier to entry on the mentor system bar having done the most basic of shadowlands content - we took a massive gamble on recruiting a monk who'd only started playing WoW in Legion back in Tomb of Sargeras, he was absolutely clueless and is STILL learning things from "Where is Onyxia's lair" to gameplay systems. He would have been eligible to be a guide even back in Legion, since he had it's pathfinder and probably would have went for it considering he's a really nice guy.I fear toxicity far less than I fear general ineptitude.
Copied from Final Fantasy, which is cool, it's a pretty decent system. The game needs more new blood to counter all of us jaded veterans, I wish I could see the game with new player eyes.
This is a step to the right direction and make WoW more accessible and friendly to the average player, however we will how it will be implemented in practice and determine how it needs to be modified to be more effective if it is not as it has been planned.

There should be a rating system put into place, as nice as it is... it'd be hard to tell which person is an actual good role model or a drill sergeant type of player.
Something they should do is to implement the same "Rep" system as in Heroes of the storm... where people can give you "Up votes" or reprot youthen if you get to many reports you will lose the mentor system status and banned... from it for 2 days that will dubble for each mentor system ban... Your account wont be banned... but you will only not be able to be a Guideeasy easy ^^
DH Master"Ye know, just press any button you'll be fine"
Only ban I had was for making a DH on a non-RP realm named Hotpoop. Would be kinda dumb if that disqualified me but I won't lose sleep over it lol.
I really hope this doesn't turn out as badly as FFXIV's mentor programme, FFXIV has something similar called mentors and the majority of mentors are clowns who spam the novice network full of useless drivel and only want the crown to get rewards from it.
