So, instead of having 5 instances running on 'bare metal', Multiboxers will just use VMs to play, with the input splitting software pointed at the VM, so they cant be caught using the software. Something I imagine a good chunk are doing already. This is the equivalent of changing your password from 'password' to 'Passw0rd1' Sure its gonna slow them down for like half a minute, but then its gonna be business as usual. Why even make the change if it's so easy to circumvent?
So theoretically I could still use extra accounts to get my lonely af guild some achieves. Now all I need are 4 more computers that can run wow.
only took 16 years but it's at last official. Now let's watch them not act on it. *getting out the popcorn*
As a returning player after being away from the game several years I was shocked at how much cheating was going on.Multi boxing is disrupting the quality of gameplay for other players. Players are using multi boxing to que their DPS for LFR (by piggy backing on to their tank), as soon as the raid starts the tank leaves and the group has to wait ages for a new tank to join or the group completely disbands causing frustration for players that que for hours. (If LFR wasn't difficult enough with players already). Most players work hard to grind content for years to get that 5 mil gold mount, to gear up their characters, or farm mats for their professions. This cheating nonsense has been going on too long and is extremely unfair to other players.Banning mirroring is a step in the right direction, but I feel Blizzard has fallen short of the mark and has let down the honest and dedicated players.
This pretty much destroys all them people using 10 druids to farm 1 herb and tank the prices... and Im really glad for that :)
I am happy to play alone with my toons in old raids for mogs, toys, pets, mounts. I got sick of being forced to deal with toxic players which ruined my experience in WoW, I have been playing since 2005. When LFR came many guild raids were trashed, many guilds fell apart. Now I do my own thing, keep to myself. I gather my mats only for me. I buy WoW tokens from Bliz to sell for gold. Then I buy tons of pets, mogs, toys and mounts on the AH, which helps the economy. No more progression raids or LFR for me. I do not pvp on my group, IF I ever pvp, it is only on my main toon alone. everyone has the ability to multi-box, even if you are just toggling. It is nice to be able port yourself around with your mage, or tank, or heal for yourself. You all have the freedom to make the choice to do this. If you choose to do it, this does not make you a bad person. Not every multi-boxer is a bot or a bully, there are players like me who just want to enjoy WoW away from a toxic environment. This stigma on multi-boxing should not exist. If you don't like it, so what, stop trying to control other people. If people want to multi-box LEAVE THEM ALONE. Blizzard will handle the bots and abusers. Harassing other players is against TOS, which is a bannable offense. Blizzard Code of Conduct https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/42673 Falsely reporting another player with the sole intent of restricting their gameplay is also unacceptable and will result in penalties to your account. Multi-boxing is NOT cheating, you can have and play multiple accounts if you choose to do so since November 23, 2004. It is your freedom of choice that BLIZZARD HAS GIVEN YOU.
Still going to report every multi-boxer I see. I have no idea if they are using banned software or not since it looks the same for all forms of multi-boxing, so better just to report.
Makes you wonder how much revenue Blizzard is making from these multi boxer accounts. I'm not having a go at the company, they do an amazing job creating and managing content for players over the years. But this whole debate and Blizzard allowing multi boxer accounts is clearly financially motivated...
Jeez this is stupid decision to forbid Multi boxing. I tell you why:- They do not abuse multi boxing like pay to win to get more gold or materials beacuse they can simply save money, play 1 wow account and buy gold from resellers on the internet- I dont mind other people mutli boxing whether its 2 accounts or freaking 600 if its computer handles that. They pay for all these subscriptions and its not easy to navigate all wow instances. You need to take into account: input lags, unexpected events, running back to body on multiple wows etc. Tons of macro need to be made in order to play properly. In my point of view this decision will lead either to: (oh its forbidden so i quit wow on all acccounts) or (lets find a new way to do it without using 3rd party - like hardware one split or smth).BTW. I am not multi boxer but i consider it in the past and tried on PTR. Trust me its not that easy to handle both of the instances at the same time while playing different characters, classes having totally different abilities.Automating program is no the same as proxy input application / broadcast input program.First one does precoded action for you without additional inputSecond one is being controlled by you. All actions on the screen need to be done with your interaction. SO if you manage to make macros, combine similar heroes skills and navigate thru the game - I would do standing oviation for such people.Multi Boxers are specific kind of customers and kind of gameplay which shouldnt be targeted like popular Honorbuddy in the past. They do not do anything wrong. Also, it is beatiful that we could play wow in several ways. Imagine creating a party with 2 rogues or 5 Shamans. It is simply fun to play.Soon they forbid more LUA appis, Macros and you would have to buy seperate PC Machines just to play wow.I hope somebody find a new way to do multi boxing without violating new terms - I simply feel pity for these people. Come on people dont you watched youtube videos back in Lich King expansion or other where guy had like 10 screens setup in his basement :D.Please be more open and liberal.BTW. Ban pixel bots and hackers manipulating the memory instead of multi boxers.Cheers.
People are really dense. Having multiple accounts is fair game. Having each account logged in is fair game. Using software like ISBOXER is NOT allowed to control all of those different instances of the game with a single keystroke. Why are people so dang upset about something that they are not fully comprehending to begin with? I used to just dual box, seems pretty harmless and generally speaking, I would get owned in AVs by people that knew how to play their class.
Multiboxing without the abillity to control your other characters at the same time is not multiboxing. Its playing one character with the others on follow. You can't clear BRD no matter how slow with alt tabing. The time it took me to clear easy dungeons took too long to effect the economy.
Blizzard bans 'third-party input broadcasting software' because of 'keystroke mirroring to multiple game clients'. This software (with IS boxer being the most know) simply adds code to your computer's CMD that says 'all these game clients are set to active and if you press certain buttons (1-2-3-4-5-...) it should do so on all active windows. ONLY multiboxers use this. It makes it so that if you were to press '1' on your keyboard, with on your priest smite keybound and on your warlock have shadowbolt keybound on that number, both clients would get the keyboard input and cast their spells. It would also mean that you can copy your mouse movement which for classic would mostly be of use to grab the songflower & cast ranged aoe (sappers, blizzard, rain of fire, ...).Ofc there is ways around using this software, you can manually put in code to keystroke mirror in your CMD yourself and keep your characters functioning at the same time. Here's the catch though, they will ban specifically on keystroke mirroring. So, unless you buy 5 computers and 5 keyboards, you will not be able to multibox.- Alt-tabbers however will have no issues in WoW classic, they can still farm, the jujus will still drop for everyone in the group, still place a character at every black lotus location. They'll be able to play exactly like they did before, with 0 changes.- Bots have no issues, they have automated scripts running their characters (that aren't allowed), they press nothing on their keyboards, in fact they're not even behind their computers. They aren't paying to use broadcasting software, in no way care about what the policy says and the fact that their account might get banned; they'll just hack another account and continue their 24/7 STRAT, BRD, ZG, Azshara, ... farm. - Multiboxers are the only ones affected by this. Due to not being able having keystrokes active on multiple clients, they can no longer clear any dungeon, neither as join any raids. This will in no way affect the WoW classic economy, as farming is exceptionally boring for an actual human being and with the amount of bots, it's simply not worth it for them. That's besides for the point that there's very few multiboxers in WoW classic, 2-5 a server, most having toons on multiple servers. PVP wise it also doesn't change a thing, even though that video of that 40 men shaman boxer that killed an entire raid is immensely popular, the reality is Blizzard counts this as griefing and it's a banable offense. This policy only affects their personal gameplay and some guilds having to recruit 5 more members to replace them by. For WoW classic, this new policy is only gonna result in a low amount of people getting banned. I'd guess a total of 30 accounts. Most multiboxers have already cancelled their subscriptions, with some of them considering raid logging on one account. Only few will actually attempt ignoring the new policy to see what happens. Gold sellers/ bots will benefit from this with new people joining the game, unable to find dungeon groups. Thus relying on boosts for which they'd require gold. As with the ban of multiboxing, the second option, making your own 5 man group is no longer available.Blizzard SHOULD just write that multiboxing isn't allowed to stop the confusion. Their text basically says "We allow black cats, unless their fur is black."
Every expansion I multibox five toons to cap. This time I'll not be using any software but people are still going to report me even though I'm not doing anything wrong. It sucks to be punished for someone else's crimes.By the time the next expac comes around I will have four potato refurbished PCs set up and it'll be business as usual.
Isn't this basically close to a multi boxing ban?Because without keystroke broadcasting software, it'll be inefficient as hell. You could still set your alts on follow, but multi boxers won't be able to target a specific player in PvP and just melt them with a million dots. They also won't be able to farm herbs in Nazjatar with multiple toons and just drying up nodes extremely quickly. They have to switch through all of their toons windows and click on the node manually.I'd like to give Blizz credit for this. Even if its not perfect, its definitely in the right direction.
So clearly people didn't read the article the first time around huh? Nothing changed between then and now, you guys just need to get off Reddit and learn to actually read the articles.
