Dark Ranger? Shadow Hunter? No?
hmmm shadowlands necrolords…….. no necromancer....
disappointed about no new class, hope they make up for it by making the class design acceptable again
I don't care that there is no new class. They need to fix the ones they broke.
I still think it's a weak response with no new classes. It is true I rather have a better character customization, but it is a wasted opportunity imo, and a lazy answer I have to admit.
As if we dont know that you could design a storyline for whatever new class you wanted to add into the game :P and bend everything for it.
"For Shadowlands, nothing really jumped out as needing a new class"NECROMANCER THOUGH?
Fire DKs would have been HOT!...There's like two puns in that sentence.
Another physical/range class would've been nice.
If the existing classes play awesome again in Shadowlands, then I'm fine with new class. Also, the new customizations appear to go deep, so that's great. I just hope that they do some little stuff with the allied races as well. Nightborne NEED more hairstyles.
So, I'm betting 2 years from now, in some interview, they're going to reveal that Tinker was cut from BFA, since they heavily fleshed out the Tinkers mechanics and lore in BFA.
Necromancers.... Shadow Rangers.... Dark Rangers.... Void Rangers.... Tinkers.... All could combat undead. Machinery can't be effected by plague. At least new specs....I am glad we are getting Wildhammer custimization, so hopes still for at least High Elf tats. But we could also get Half Elf ear or something for humans.... please....
We can't just add new classes forever. I don't think we need any new classes.
Should have asked about class changes instead of a new class.
I think a lot of us look at the Shadowlands and think any sort of death-based class would be thematically appropriate; necromancer, dark ranger, etc. But when you think about it, and try to understand it from the perspective they give here, it does make a sort of sense.Consider, the machine of death is broken. The whole premise of the Covenants needing our help, and the Maw stealing all the souls, is that death is not working the way it should. So would it really make sense to introduce a brand new class that derives their power from a machine that is fundamentally broken? Particularly when the Maw, the realm that's sucking up all the souls and thus all the power, is particularly hostile to the player character. Then, if bringing in a class that's thematically appropriate to the expansion is off the table, it feels a little awkward to add a class that very distinctly isn't, such as Tinker. So, instead of doing that, they focus the time on character customization, a community request for how long now? I will admit, if we were ever going to be getting "Customization 2.0" I partly expected it to be in a .x patch, as opposed to an expansion feature. But it's still been hotly requested and I can't begrudge them the desire to work on that vs adding a class that they think would feel out of place. On the other hand, if they're going to do classes based on relevance to the current storyline, I think they should consider moving away from tying them up with expansion releases. The example I'm thinking is this: The heroes of Azeroth defeat the Jailer(or?) and bring balance back to the death machine lets say in 9.1, restoring the roles of each plane and opening up the powers of death. This opens up the opportunity for exploration into the magics of death, and our deeper understanding of it makes the practice less taboo opening the way for fledgling Necromancers to learn their craft more openly. Necromancers are then a new class added in 9.2. That's obviously hypothetical, but you get the idea; if classes are meant to be tied to story developments, perhaps chaining them to being added as expansion features should be reconsidered.I'm also on board the train that if no new class means the existing 12 get more attention and work, more power to them. Also, I'm just gonna say it, if we're trading the dev time from a new class for Customization 2.0, those had better be some damn cool customization options (though what we saw as just a preview at blizzcon was certainly exciting; did someone say Wildhammer?).
They could have added a 3rd spec to demon hunters based on shadowlands lore and whatnot
Need to adjust mic level for the Interviewer - couldn't hear anything with the volume turned to the max....
