That sure is some interesting stuff, still not buying that book tho.
What was your favorite dungeon? Least favorite dungeon? Also what was the design behind Gnomeregan? (as you either love it or you hate it)edit: and why ragefire chasm? Were there any plans for an alliance low lvl dungeon like it?
A bit late, but as someone who started in Burning Crusade, then went back through and played on classic, Shadowfang Keep has always felt the most akin to what I assume most people expect when hearing the word Dungeon. It's also personally my favorite of the original dungeons. Not just for the best in slot for several levels loot it drops, especially for casters, but for the layout, actual castle aesthetic, and (certainly for its time and level) almost cinematic boss fights.Did you work on Shadowfang Keep at all, or had any hand in its implementation or design? What was your personal favorite part of it? If you didn't, do you have an equivalent you personally really like? And finally, were there any dungeons you had more fun playing than actually designing, or vice versa? Thanks!
What was meant to be in the vanilla world that never got implemented? I'm talking about things like the instance portal in the Stormwind canals or the Forlorn Ridge battleground or the world areas that got filled only in Cataclysm (Hyjal, Grim Batol, etc...).
I see, what about the rest? What was meant to be in the Stormwind canals instance portal, in Forlorn Ridge and in Hyjal?
What do you think of WoW classic? Why do you think it is so popular, and what does that mean for the two distinct versions of WoW now available? How did Blizzard tackle putting out fires as they happened, as players began to really break things? Like when people figure out an unintended thing they can rampantly use to progress quickly.Or like another example itemization for certain classes (caster DPS, feral druids for example) was quite bad with the original dungeons, but got much better with dire maul, and even better still with BWL and Zul Gurub. How were decisions made and adjusted to fix problems as they arose?
There was a demon hunter on the vanilla WoW box. With some cloth gear getting strength and agility, I have always wondered if demon hunters were initially planned?
What about Silithus? Before patch 1.8 it was shown in the map as a zone split in half (map - terrain), was Ahn'Quiraj meant to be an outdoor questing area? What was the early concept for it?Is is true that warlocks at first were meant to be a semi-melee class wearing leather? What's the story behind the Firestone?
Fascinating read, both the article and the comments. Thank you very much for this!Don't know if the comments to this part will be noticed, so will be waiting for the next part, so I could ask about the Shadow Hold in Felwood, which I was amazed at when recently discovering for the first time in my 15 years in WoW.
