I feel that using the fact the orcs got away with WoD as the reason the draenei attack them ( they did fight back unlike the MU ones) would have been a better reason than "we became fanatics of the light". Also this whole "the light can be used for evil/ wrongly" was done with the scarlet crusade/ onslaught and xera, and in xeras case it was one outlier. After how they treated xera, as much as i disliked her character, i feel they are on some crusade to show that light wielders can be evil or that it can be controlling.
I don't know about all of you but I distinctly remember Yrel having a great fondness in relying on the light for salvation in a lot of her voicelines. It doesn't surprise me that she would see the orcs that weren't lightbound as worthy of saving lest they turn to fel once again. Obviously Yrel and her followers don't see themselves as malevolent defilers of peace but rather of benevolent protectors of it instead. It would make sense. But we won't actually know the full story as we're only looking at Yrel through the Mag'hars eyes. With such a push back from the community I do see them changing a few of the voicelines or removing them entirely to make the Lightbound a little less, errr... righteous.
I kinda want to go back to Draenor and sort this Lightbound problem out now >.<Evil Light is something I wish they’d explored more with the Lightforged. Also I wanna see Garrosh, surely they’re going to revisit this plot, right?
Fanaticism definitely isn't out of left field there is an entire quest line on Argus about how blindly following the light is just as strayed as blindly following the void. What is out of left field is that Yrel and her kin somehow turned into the Spanish inquisition with seemingly no provocation besides having no demons to fight, the draenei were led by the Naaru for thousands of years with little to no demons to fight upon arrival on Draenor yet they didn't immediately become zealots, they should not release such a humongous implication (that light reliant races face insanity) without enough background.
Lightbound Orcs future allied race for the Alliance?
"The Light has gone unchecked"? Lol?Are people forgetting these Orcs, with the exception of the Frostwolf clan, were ALL trying to mass murder everyone? Even the Shadowmoon clan got threatened to be wiped out if they didn't help Garrosh. But he's a "hero who freed them from demons"? Orc moral standards are something eyyyy? lol"Those were good years", oh, you mean the years where everyone pretended you didn't try to mass murder everyone, ya stupid Orc?Boy, Blizzard is trying so hard to victimize these Orcs it hurts.
Keep in mind we're getting our information from an in-game orc, in this situation. What she sees as "the Draenei embracing their Light" to the point of fanatacism could well turn out to be Xe'ra-like naaru straight up mind controlling all the Draenei, same way the Orcs were controlled by demons after taking the demon blood. The Light itself isn't corruptive, but the Draenei embrace it enough that if a sentience can control the Light, it could control them, especially if they are unaware, like the Draenor Draenei, and especially if they are touched by the naaru, like Yrel.

I might make a post that explains my feelings after I read some of the comments:I think the idea is good, the execution is lacking... but maybe it's not all that stupid as much as I thought. The only problem I still have is that this is a huge idea, and it's showed to the sidelines by being a one-time quest for one faction in an instance of a parallel world that we may never revisit again and by all accounts and the storywriters reasoning, that world is "not real" or "not main" and thus what happens there is not really important.Maybe it can serve just as a foreshadowing and in the future, we will have the same thing happening in the main universe again. Maybe it will even happen after the inevitable final battle against the Void Lords expansion. Or maybe it happens before and by the Light being revealed to us as not completely virtuous, it's "defeat" will make us weaker when fighting the Void Lords and thus making that next expansion more interesting. However, the time-travel element and those stupid time rules and inconsistencies that result from it just diminish the impact this storyline should have. Because to most people this development looks completely random and stupid when such major plot points happen off-screen in a different time in an alternative universe. And even those events that happen in our universe are barely covered and happen off-screen. And that causes that we write the story for Blizzard ourselves just to make sense of the inconsistencies. If they have a good idea, they should show all the threads that connect it to the current story themselves. They shouldn't leave the bulk of the work on the players, so they will rationalize apparently stupid stuff like "Grom was evil, but then he is treated like a hero for no apparent reason. Find that reason yourself dear players! Yrel was good, but then she becomes the opposite because reasons. Go find those reasons yourselves as well! We ain't have no time for that $%^&. We must dedicate our time to writing a story about how Sylvanas makes so obviously evil acts, yet she keeps getting more and more allies on her side with ease."
Alliance self righteousness here big in the comments.
Sweet monkey jesus, yes. So glad to see Blizz doing something cool with the AU.OMEGALUL at the salty Alliance here.
This can't possibly be real. This is a red herring, right? Right?
Now I’m more interested in AU Draenors storyline then I am BFA. This is great.
"Durotan was killed by the Lightbound"I can't handle the pain... Plus Blizzard screwing with the Lore.
Jesus and I thought the void elf story was some cringey ^&*!. This is worse. So Eitrigg is tryna claim the Alliance are tyrants they need help getting rid of? What? But we didn't call upon them in Legion? Yah okay Their attempts to make the light "have a bad side" didn't have to ruin the Draenei / Yrel. It was more interesting when it was people who believed they were doing the right thing, like the Scarlet Crusade. I've been looking forward to hearing about this recruitment scenario and it's literally awful :/
Awww, I liked Yrel :( Boo to the Light being so possessive.
