With Momentum being a love it or hate it playstyle, I'd imagine a class writer for it would know to at least add a build without it. Guess not.
For me the problem isn't that it's not updated, it's that it's only focused on raid, no word on M+ and/or PvP (at least this article states that it's impressions about raid, most of them don't even bother).
Charred Warblades was an artifact trait for Vengeance DH back in Legion
I'M MY SCARS... but i will not play Momentum AGAIN! So i finally prepare for another main... after all this years :'(
Im not a fan of Momentum, they need to move some talents around, to give us 3 or 4 clear and actual valid play styles, its looking better but stop nerfing stuff, and give folks some play styles that will different, yet still not bottom of the barrel dps, allow us to bring somethings to the table.. raid/M+ pease....
Not a word about Defensives situation, Which is atrocious compared to other melees.
Same boat, I don't enjoy the momentum builds. Still, love the article, great insight!
Very good writeup! It addresses most of the concerns I have with the current iteration of the havoc talent tree. Last weeks tree was so much better even though it also had some frustrating bits. I have hope that the issues pointed out in this article will be addressed!
I am especially excited for Any Means Necessary, as that is a very comprehensive buff to our arsenal. Not only does that make all of our spells scale with our mastery, but it converts many spells' damage type to include fire, which is a big deal when you consider Charred Warblades, which converts fire damage to healing (Chaos should always include Fire as one of its types unless they rework the school), which is a pretty significant healing boost. Combine that with the other neat boosts to Mastery scaling, like increased movement speed, and we might actually get to play a mastery-oriented version of the spec for the first time in ages (ever?). I'm #TeamHopium. But these are early days and much can change.
Soul Rending is 10%/20% leech max, not 30% leech.
Agreed : talents are good, pathing is horrible.
As someone who's mained DH since it was released, I am really exciting about the new things we get to play around with (and old ones returning!).Personally, I think momentum is fun to play in content like M+ where there's more room for "fun", but I think when we HAVE to go momentum (because there's simply NO other option), it becomes VERY problematic. In itself momentum is a very nice idea, and as I said it has its fun moments, but I feel like it does not belong in a raid setting, since raiding often requires some very accurate movement (Sludgefist), and Fel Rush in general is buggy and does not respond very well to even tiny latency changes (not moving, or moving double lengths). Thus I'd love to see Momentum go back to proccing only from Fel Rush and ALSO it being a choice note, giving us the option to go something else (hint: Chaos Blades).Apart from the above mentioned, I personally do not like the fact that "Fodder to the Flame" and "Elysian Decree" is in the havoc tree. I realize some people did enjoy these, but I'd much prefer if we cut ties with as much as possible that had anything to do with the covenants in Shadowlands. I can justify "The Hunt" because the ability is an actual cooldown, and it does fit our class quite nice. I can also justify "Elysian Decree" in the Vengeance tree, as it was largely played there, had amazing synergy with the spec, especially Spirit Bomb and just souls in general, whereas Havoc has barely any interaction with them, even with the Demonic Appetite talent, what does do those 3 soul shards really do?..Continuing from above, seeing as both Unity AND the conduit that made ED deal damage twice is gone, I see no reason why this is even an option for Havoc. Now for Fodder to the Flame, the ability in itself was a niché in PvP but I franky think the design of this ability and Sinful Brand (thank god this isn't making a return) did not hit the mark for our class, and I'd much rather prefer NOT to play this talent, but sadly it seems to be quite one of the better ones at the lower bracket of our tree. I suggest the removal of Elysian Decree talent from havoc, and instead give a different choice (hint: Chaos Blades) that gives us the option between random procs (Fodder) or a controlled burst, since we have now dealt with the RNG of Demon Blades and CoH, we don't want to add new one (Fodder) do we? Perhaps, we could even make Elysian Decree / The Hunt be a choice in the class tree, and keep Fodder in Havoc as a choice node.Though this seems like a lot of ranting, I do generally like all of the changes we're receiving and I am excited that we finally get to go back to Crit + Mastery scaling, like we had back in Nighthold, but I would be even happier to see the return of Chaos Blades.
After the devs acknowledged momentum being hated by most of the dh playerbase, I was optimistic that they would make it nothing more than a niche talent. That's clearly not what happened. Momentum existing means it will always be mandatory because of the nature of how this new talent tree is designed. The only solution is to delete it. An entire spec shouldnt have to suffer the horrible playstyle of momentum because of a minority. Delete momentum.
