I for see many guilds changing to the new changes.
Gearscore needs to die. :(Captcha: are unterdes
My guild is already a good solid 10m. But there's prolly a while until anyones raiding so let's worry about Cata dropping and leveling up first ^^
The big losers in the re-shuffle are the not-quite-pro 25 Raid Guilds that had Pro 10 Raid teams going on off nights. If the guild decides to go for 10mans, they keep the whole guild but risk fracturing into sub-guilds or even smaller guilds down the track. If they go with 25man, they run the risk of alienating and losing the Pro 10 players that formed the backbone of their 25's team.
Honestly, I haven't read too much on the changing of raid lockouts, but I am aware that the same loot will drop in both 10/25 man raids. With what you have said here though, is that yes, there is a potential for many guilds to cut back on raid teams, but the potential for guilds to recruit more people and have more raids going at a time to fit more schedules is also a possibility. If a guild is running a 25 man raid in current content, and decides that it is not worth the coordination to continue to do so, It could decide to recruit 5 more players (not including stand-bys, mind you) and get three 10 man raid groups going. The demand for competent raid leaders would increase, and finding those that match guild charters, rules, and personality would be the greatest challenge to running more raids. This is at least what I hope will happen. It has been very apparent that Blizzard wants as many people to get into 'endgame' content as fast as possible, and having the raids drop the same gear, no matter what, would enable more people to experience endgame without feeling inferior to those in hardcore raiding guilds. I sincerely hope that I'm not speaking out of my posterior regions about all of this, so please feel free to correct me on anything that i have said. these are just my opinions.
I am equally curious being in the same position - Officer and Recruiter. Our Guild made a move some time ago to be a Social guild and drop the raiding. Surprisingly, we raid more now as a result as the personalities are well balanced and the side effect is a desire to hang out aka raid. I'm looking forward to the changes and we will change to meet them but I think, finding the people that match the Guild, not the toon, is now the way to go :)Nice article - I'm passing it on for our other Officer's to read and consider.

My guild is transferring to the horde side of my server come Cataclysm, which leaves me guildless, seeing as I intend to be Alliance for life. And since I'm changing spec from resto druid (which I've played for three years, raiding all through WotLK) to bear druid (which I've never played) I'm both excited and nervous that I won't be able to find a guild as good as my current. With many more players to recruit, I have to fight... for my right... not to party, but raid! :(
Gearscore sucks. Point taken. back to comments on the blog.
So the question I have is when will the 25 man content for ICC roll down to 10. I mean they changed the lockout but not the content to be shared. I was a late 80 since I started into WoW not long ago. I wanted to get shadowmourne just for the achievement and the last three weeks have been impossible to get into a 25 man being a pug. No one is running 25 mans everyone is only doing 10. Guess I'm stuck with 25 PS, light and hoping for a 25man for the acidic blood.
Things will change idd! And wonder if they are considering the difficulty levels of 10m being more harder than 25m? hmmm
I am in a social guild, not a raiding guild, and for that reason i pug, always. I think that at the start of cata, and like 2 months after that, there aren't many pugs, but in like 3 months the pugging starts again and everyone is happy, although i have friends in 3 different raiding guilds and this problem doesnt hit me, i think that when everyone is used to cata the pugging will be just as massive as in Wrath.
Over my un-rezzed corpse. Our guild stands for a few things, but an absence of gearscore's high upon that list. I'm surprised that anyone would pay a monthly subscription to the "World of Epeen" minigame, but it seems they do. I hope that, in fact, the opposite happens once new guild features are launched. Not that I have any basis for that, beyond naive optimism. ;)
Well, I was in the situation that our 25-man raid broke up and there was a 10-man by some of these people and they moved on to a new guild for cata, better said, they opened a new guild. For me this was a bad situation, because most people had their 10-mans already for Cata and I came back to WoW after a summerbreak and there was nothing left for me. Well, many new guilds searched for players, but not hunters or they where fun raiding guild without any real experience or progress. Some days ago a 10-man group searched 2 ranged dds for Sindra and LK hm, I talked to the raidleader and he tried to get me to the 10-man raid. I was saying no, because I had no hm experience with the LK, but he talked to me for about 20 minutes till I said ok, I will come with them.Well, the best decision I could make: 9 other persons who knowed me since the old vanila raiding times, 4 of them where people I raided past in the days of LVL60 Naxx/AQ40. That was a real surprise for me.Now I have a 10-man raid for Cata, a new guild and many funny people I know from the old days, when 40-man raids where the only choice. ^^
