Not bad at all - but I want to see more!
I liked the cinematic but I do hope they've got something more interesting planned for Fyrakk than him being told he can't control the shadowflame and then finding out that he indeed can't control the shadowflame.I don't want massive subversive twists, but just another villain full of hubris is a bit overdone too. I know that's what Fyrakk is like, but still.
So, Fyrakk is a lunatic that's even crazier thanks to the shadowflame he clearly isn't in control of, and Vyranoth is clearly being set up as a tentative ally or something akin to an antihero. I had a feeling we'd see Vyranoth as the only member of the primalists that still had morals to her. Fyrakk torched the moles and Iridikron stole Galakrond's head from the past for unknown purposes, but Vyranoth hasn't done anything other than make Alexstrasza feel (even more) bad about her past actions and (sort of) rescue some random green dragon. Raszageth fulfilled the pure antagonistic female role, and I was hoping Vyranoth would be just as cold (heh), but that doesn't seem to be the case. At least not now.
Good Cinematic, but not enough to get me to play 10.1.7. Need to see what 10.2 is all about before deciding to come back or not.
"Guys, this is sooo bad!"I mean, I don't call it World of Hamcraft for nothing; this game has always been a rather hamy/campy fantasy setting since it's inception and that's part of the charm. Blizzard isn't inspired by either the Tolkien style high fantasy or the Martin kind of dark fantasy like people expect. It's more like your pulp novel/heroic fantasy mixed with some comic books (ironically, the kind of stuff that inspired D&D, since people want to mention Baldur's gate here). Heroic fantasy doesn't really concern itself with cosmic forces or really big bad overlord types; usually it's more personal and "low stakes". With that in mind, WoW's at it's best when we're not fighting these world-ending threats as opposed to smaller foes and putting up with more "slice of life" situations (well, however a slice of life situation would be in a fantasy setting). Let's not forget how moved people were over the "Stay Awhile and Listen" quest, despite the fact it lacked all spectacle of something like punching the Lich King in the face.Of course, that's why when we get to these "big moments", everything just feels like a joke. We know that these snickering villains are gonna do something bad, we beat them up, and we go back to the things that matter more to us. They don't really feel threatening unless they hurt a character we care about or trash one of our favorite places to hang out.
pretty good cinematic...the fire dude....my god his voice reminds me of the joker lol.
wow Emerald Dragon will be new expansion I think. I love this video!
You know the writing's not quite where it needs to be, when you very blatantly show instead of tell, with almost zero room for assumption and people strain their brains trying to theorycraft what Vyranoth is going to do. 33% of this Cinematic is unsurprisingly Fyrakk slowly falling to the kool aid, who would've thought. The other 33% is reinforcing that Vyranoth is lawful evil and in fact is the only Incarnate that isn't twirling their mustache. And the remaining 34 was telling us where we're going, like it wasn't already clear it was going to be dream-related. Amazing. But visually this was very, very good. So basically, I just watched 3 Minutes and 7 Seconds of a Michael Bay movie with half the explosions.
