You have better players on horde side in mythic + because many of the better players swapped to horde so you have a FAR FAR better chance of getting a better group. one racial for the alliance will not bring back the many many thousands of players that swapped to horde. the only way they have to fix their massive mistake now it to either merge the factions or nerf the hell out of the horde racial's and buff the alliance to the point where the horde is getting curb stomped into the ground. But that is not going to happen blizzard makes big bucks off the horde guilds in pvp and raiding. There are 3 types still playing alliance. The diehard alliance fanatics. The people that cant afford to faction change their 50 chars and the delusional ones who fail at basic math. If they gave out free faction changes the alliance population would shrink to 1/20th of the size of the horde.
if they removed the faction divide then WoW is just dead to me, it's a core part of the game and it should never be removed. They've already started going down this road with war mode (horrible feature) so I think it may actually happen but man it would just ruin the game for me and it wouldn't be the same ever again. Given what their other dev said that left the company recently..... they should not make ANY massive decisions like that when they themselves don't even have a clear direction of where the game should be going (which also shows based on the last few expansions).
It shouldn't be too much to ask to be able to play with other people in the game. Things like not being able to tag a mob because the other faction did, when you don't have war mode enabled, should go away. We should also be able to queue together. I'm simply not interested in their made up faction war.
Blizzard just doesn't know what story to tell every other expansion if they don't artificially create a faction conflict that makes no sense.
Remove factions?
Removing factions is long overdue.Splitting the playerbase in an MMO by having opposing factions is just bad game design. There is a small hope that a post-Shadowlands Azeroth is going to be changed and open up for less of a faction divide, but considering Blizzard's track record in regards to factions I am not holding out hope.
Far to late to fix that.Either they drasticaly nerf horde racials and buff Alliance racials to the point where they just stomp horde racials or they just let the alliance die.The majority won’t move becouse the competitive playerbase and the majority are on Horde now, thanks to the snowball that is rolling since BC and just got slowed by the human racial in PvP.Now there is absolutely zero reason to play alliance while it is pretty lucrative to play horde. It was not a social issue and would never be if the devs would finaly start to do something.
Maaan, what a cop out. I hoped Blizzard was at least trying to staunch the bleed, but it's clear they don't spend resources on this at all. The problem is getting worse, not better. A bunch (4-6) mythic guilds on my server went horde due to player pools. Then some others follow. Some notice that server pop is declining and moves to more populated pastures. In the end this makes it harder for me to find people I enjoy socializing with.Of course it's a social problem. Blizzards solutions consist of "we've tried nothing and we're out of ideas!". Problem is solving social problems will cause friction and be perceived as unfair by a bunch of players, but it's absolutely not fair that Alliance players have a harder time to get the most out of the game. That's unfair at a fundamental level. So Blizzard chose the way of inaction to not rock the boat, thus making the problem worse...because it is a social problem. Here are a few suggestions that might help:- Unlock all cross-server restrictions for the Alliance. Cross-server mythic, guilds, trading and whatever else. One server pool for the Alliance (or whatever number is technically feasible). Since population is the biggest problem. Then lets increase the population in the only way possible.- No-one is moving for the WM bonus. Hell most players aren't in WM (as seen when I switched off WM in prep for SL). Make the bonus apply to non-WM and include the max amount of soul ash you can receive each week. The latter is to provide an obvious and tangible edge.Gold makes most things easier and here's where it gets iffy. Ultimately, this is a game and something everyone wants to enjoy plus I don't wanna punish a fellow player, but it's probably the most effective option bar making Alliance racials OP for a few expansions.- Tax the horde. Make it more expensive to be on the larger side. Make the day-to-day and mythic prep more expensive and show the player the fact (perception plays a big factor after all). You can even make it lore friendly. The horde races are larger and require more food while Durotar is a desert with a few pig farms, conflict with Nelfs in Ashenvale, Alliance presence between TB and Org, goblins wrecking the land and water ecosystem of Azshara and Silvermoon an ocean away.
They should just make Horde and Alliance play together. We've wanted this since BC...I'm sure it will give faster dungeon queues too.
Reading through the entire interview I feel like they really should delay every expansion that comes afterwards. Ion really emphasized the difference between content being ready to ship and that extra layer of flavor and refinement on top of it. To me, that last part is much much more important that content just being "ready". It's an RPG and those little flavorful moments are quite the treat. They make the world come alive and they last way longer than the gameplay. As players we're gonna replay that content for a brief moment when leveling past it or revisiting for achievements, collections or lore. Gameplay is just gonna be replaced by whatever comes with the next expansion.
Horde have so large population difference that racials are doesn't matter anymore, you are not going to choose a side with 1/5 of competitive players pool. You can fix it over time with an alliance racials being straight better, but:1. Large horde population mean large crying forum babies population. Anything that in unfavorable for the Horde is always met with a HUGE forum/reddit/twitter outcry and literal oceans of tears.2. Almost all developers are Horde players already. Yeah, hello there, mr. Ion-I-see-no-problems.So no, nothing is going to change, ever. Also lol@pvp power arguments. Pvp in a pve game is so important.
I don't want to play with Alliance races. I want to play with Horde races.Just because the factions occasionally work with each other doesn't make them friends. Italy, Russia, Germany and Japan have been enemies and allies of the United States within only decades. Your friends today could be enemies tomorrow and vice versa.
