Hey there, everyone! It’s been a major week for Final Fantasy XIV fans around the world. The first major patch following the release of Endwalker, FFXIV’s most recent expansion, has launched. Titled “Newfound Adventures,” it includes everything from new Main Scenario Quests, to a new alliance raid that greatly expands the lore, to an all-new PVP system — and somehow so much more. Let’s take a look at the most important content you’ll engage with and for which we at The Linkshell — Wowhead's sister site dedicated to FFXIV — have all the information you’ll need.
All FFXIV 6.1 Job Changes: Full Breakdown from Patch Notes
Patch 6.1 brings some substantial Job changes, particularly for Paladin, Dancer, and Samurai. There’s something for every job, though, so be sure to read up on what changes have come for any and all of the Jobs you play. Pour one out for all Samurai mains.
FFXIV Healer Tier List – Best Healer Classes for Patch 6.1, April 2022
Speaking of Jobs, we have an updated healer tier list reflecting the Endwalker changes to both barrier healers and pure healers. We’re taking a bit more time to test the Patch 6.1 changes to each healer before we shake up our tiers. These changes mostly consist of reduced MP costs for some skills and some changes to potency and duration — and it appears White Mage has received the most significant of those changes. You’ll just have to read our list and look out for any surprises to make sure you’re using the best healers in the game.
FFXIV Dungeon Guide: Alzadaal’s Legacy (Patch 6.1)
Let’s get into Patch 6.1 proper for a bit. Every FFXIV patch contains a new dungeon, and this new one has some unexpected mechanics. If you’ve relied on Trusts to guide you through difficult boss fights, you’ll be tested in this one. Follow our guide to ensure your venture through Alzadaal’s Legacy is a smooth experience, especially so that you can focus on all the new lore implications.
FFXIV Alliance Raid Guide: Myths of the Realm – Aglaia (Patch 6.1)
In one of the best lore dumps in the game so far, Myths of the Realm is the new 24-player alliance raid series, and you won’t want to miss this first instance called Aglaia. While Shadowbringers’ alliance raid celebrated the universe of NieR: Automata, another beloved Square Enix game, Endwalker’s alliance raid is all about diving deeper into the mysteries behind the gods of FFXIV. Learn more about The Twelve, including how often you’ll die to their abilities in the next few weeks, by reading our guide on the beautiful and challenging raid. If you need help with unlocking it, we have a guide on that too.
How to Get the NieR Pod 602 Mount in FFXIV (And Earn MGP Fast)
In other NieR things, Patch 6.1 has added a Pod 602 mount! Read our guide on how to get the adorable pod from NieR: Automata for yourself so that you can hold onto it as you fly throughout Eorzea. Hint: It involves a lot of time and MGP-farming in the Gold Saucer, but we have you covered on how to make the process as painless as possible.
The Refreshed FFXIV PVP Has So Much Personality Even I Might Play It
While we’re on the topic of pain, FFXIV’s PVP can be a bit of a pain point for many. With Patch 6.1, certain modes are either gone or on hiatus, and the new Crystalline Conflict mode steps into the spotlight. If you want to know more about the PVP structure overhaul and how good it is, be sure to read our thoughts. The community is flocking to Wolves’ Den Pier, FFXIV’s PVP hub, in a way it hasn’t before.
FFXIV Guide: How To Get All The Garo Collaboration Gear, Mounts, and Titles
While you’re at Wolves’ Den Pier, be sure to get the extremely popular Garo collaboration gear. After a lengthy hiatus since Patch 5.1, all of the armor and mounts inspired by the tokusatsu horror franchise have returned. The gear allows FFXIV players to cosplay as their favorite characters from the first series in the franchise (and, more importantly, it just all looks very good on your character).
Adventurer Plates Are the Best New Thing in FFXIV Patch 6.1
Fashion isn’t the only way through which you can express your character and yourself in FFXIV. The new way that has become an immediate hit with players is the Adventurer Plates system. Adventurer Plates function like small calling cards for players, providing a glimpse into your playstyle and identity within the MMORPG. They’re easy and incredibly fun to customize, and there are already some creative and hilarious examples going viral out there. Be sure to read our thoughts on Adventurer Plates and see some of that sweet community content.
FFXIV Hatching Tide Event Guide: How to Get the Eat Egg Emote and Fortune Eggs
Another way players express themselves in FFXIV is through the wealth of emotes — and I know you won’t want to miss out on getting the new Eat Egg emote. It’s part of the latest seasonal event known as Hatching Tide. If you need a break from the seriousness of Patch 6.1’s MSQ or alliance raid, why not take part in this goofy event and get yourself some eggcellent rewards? Check out our guide to know how to unlock the event, what egg-related items you can anticipate getting, and how to get those items.
Here’s a Brief FFXIV Legendary Gathering Route with Maps for Endwalker
And to close out this guide roundup, we have an extremely helpful guide on how to get every Legendary node in Endwalker for all you gatherers out there. They take a lot of time and effort to get, so we’ve gone through those pains for you and figured out how to make the process as efficient as possible. If you’re a visual learner, we’ve got plenty of images and illustrations to help you too.
We’ll be sure to have even more choice morsels of content from our sister site in the future. Until then, take care!

Is this some kind of joke? Let's check.
Shadowlands release date:
23 November 2020
Endwalker release date:
19 November 2021
Shadowlands 9.1 release date:
29 June 2021 (7.5 months after expansion release)
Endwalker 6.1 release date:
12 April 2022 (5 months after expansion release)
Shadowlands 9.1 content:
New raid, a new dungeon, a few dailies in a new zone and more Torghast.
Endwalker 6.1:
Progressing the story, a New Dungeon, a new raid, revamped PVP, a new PVP mode, 2 new hard mode raids, a new housing zone.
So to summarize, for Blizzard not only took longer to release the patch, but the patch also had significantly less content. I'm not here to defend the FFXIV content, but the comparison you just made is absurd.
Saying both of these having the same "new raid" is quite disingenuous, as is calling ex trials hard mode raids. In wow terms its 4 lfr + 2 normal raid bosses. I'd argue that a new m+ season is far more content than 1 dungeon (that usually is the only dungeon you run for that tier) in ff.
I play both games and am not defending 9.1 as being great, but apart from expansion launches i have never stayed subbed for over a month for a patch in ff. I've liked the story but there's really not much of longevity in the endgame.
That's literally Square's stated design intent for FFXIV. They WANT you to be able to come and go as you please and not force you to stay subbed.

Yeah, FFXIV and WoW are pretty much on the same level right now.
It's good that there is now decent competition between two MMOs, maybe Blizzard will stop sitting on it's laurels and do a bit more effort with future expansions and content updates.
FF14 I believed surpassed WoW numbers already
Damn you must know something the rest of the world doesn't know since Blizzard doesn't publish numbers. Let me guess, you're one of those people that believes that $%^&ty mmo population website that bases their entire algorithm on Reddit subscribers.
Prob sees the marketing number Square constantly spouts about 'joining the 25 million players who play' on all their videos while missing the * that says that's total accounts since release and not current subscribers. For comparison WoW hit 100 million accounts back in MoP.

So to avoid FF spam in the WOWhead feed I need to filter out the Wowhead news category. Okay then.
