I dont think Anduin is dead or a death knight. They went through a lot of trouble to keep Anduin alive this long, that it would have been faster and easier to just kill him and turn him into a death knight months ago. The Jailer probably needs him as a warm body to possess and interact with people outside the Maw, and use his Light magic along with whatever magic Sylvanas used in her fight with Bolvar. This might be a situation similar to Sir Zeliek. Why Sylvanas would want him alive has less to do with the Jailer's reasons, and more to convince herself that he chose his fate and her cause willingly. She knows that undead are susceptible to manipulation, so she needs him alive to make his choice more valid. That scene where she points Kingsmourne at him? Because Anduin is such a bleeding heart and wants to prove anyone can be redeemed, I think he chose to be corrupted both to spare Sylvanas of the responsibility of creating another Lich King, and to can keep the Jailer occupied long enough for everyone to unite and defeat him.
Dude, srsly... not necessary
This is basically that case, when an author has to write an article, but has no idea what to write about and how to do so.
Anduin isn't a DK lol, he didn't die. He's just being controlled by the jailor.
Awesome in-depth analysis. Great work!
A bunch of toxic man-babies think it's edgy to hate on Anduin because he's actually intelligent enough to think constant war is stupid and dares express emotions other than 'rawr me smash, you die'. Apparently it threatens the very ideal of their masculinity to see a well-developed male character who isn't a Alliance vs Horde paper-thin stereotype.
blizzard does nothing that just looks cool. Theres thougth behind everything. Danuser and Terran have said this before. I doubt this is their first time they let the artist go nuts. :)
ohh really then, i want to hear from you...don't worry you can share your theory here
"but also looks off-center, clumsy, like the sword is too heavy, like he is barely able to stand. "That isn't what I see. I see him standing in a ready pose; one leg forward, the other back and slightly bent to give him balance as he leans forward into his foreleg. The sword is held back as if ready to swing around into a sweeping strike. Oh, and he isn't a Death Knight. I'm a bit concerned that someone writing on Wowhead is saying that. We have been told before that Anduin is not dead or in any state of undeath; he is under Zovaal's domination power as if he were being mind controlled by a spell. That's quite different from a Death Knight.
adding on to others who've pointed out how... well this article is REALLY reaching far into trying to "analyze" this art piece, blizzard has always done the "rule of cool" thing. So this art is really nothing more than some cool looking art. That is not devaluing or w.e the art itself, it's really well drawn, but it's just an art piece
This feels like when my high school English teacher made me write 3 pages on the deeper meaning of "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog." Hmm yes clearly we can see how the author intends a biting critique against the oppressive chains of capitalism as the king has fallen and now must be cleaned by the people."
The curtains were #$%^ing blue
