I don't think the harder missions are really meant to be completable yet. Blizzard kinda dropped the ball on this with all the timegating, since I'm fairly certain a lot of missions are balanced around having much more champions than we do now, and especially 3 soulbinds, which are your most powerful adventurers, with 2 special abilities. For example, in Kyrian's case, your third soulbind's abilities do seem pretty OP, and will help a lot. And while early on Fae and Necros do seem much more powerful, I'm pretty sure it will all even out in the long run. For now, just pay attention to enemies skills, and your positioning (especially the campaign mission vs wolf is giving ppl a lot of trouble from what I've seen, since wolf does heavy aoe to either ranged or melee, and people position their troops stupidly making them die way too easily). If there are more than 1 enemy, pay attention to whom your troops are actually attacking, so you can take out at least 1 target asap which makes the mission much easier. And most importantly, watch the combat logs and learn. Mindlessly complaining won't help you really, this version of mission table is all about tactic and thinking, unlike previous crap we had, with 199% success chance missions failing to get bonus rewards, because why not.
Great article and constructive approach to clearly a significant issue/imbalance. Now just to wait for the hotfix.
Talking with some friends in Night Fae convenant about this and they told me that they have Heroes who are HEALERS, and they are making the difference on the elite missions. I, playing in the kyrian covenant, don't have a SINGLE HEALER until now. All my companions only do damage or buff damage, not even a tank, just ranged and melee, and I'm able to complete elite missions only if I out level the misson by 6 or more levels, and almost barely having my heros alive. Also, the rewards in anima, money or XP do not scale with mission level. The mission with level 2 give the same amount of anima than the misson with level 14... but the later one is WAY harder. Not cool.
Had a Soul Ash adventure up from yesterday, spent all the time I could trying to get everyone leveled up as much as I could before it expired. Finally, today, let's see if I can run it. It's level 22. I got Level 22/19/19/18 for Champions (Night Fae) and Level 19 troops.Enemy Strength: Just over 10,000 health and over 500 attack powerMy Strength (with best laid team): Around 7500 health and 400 attack power (and yes, I left Dreamweaver out, he is as durable as wet tissue paper)I do not see that as remotely possible, even factoring in abilities. And not a good use of time/anima.
I don't understand the point of that final paragraph. Yeah, thanks Wowhead, for telling me I might eventually be able to complete missions Necrolords and Night Fae can complete right now. Duh.I already had my suspicions about this being quite unbalanced when I heard Night Fae have troops that can heal their champions, but I didn't know it was this bad. I'm definitely struggling as a Kyrian.
Ive been doing almost as many missions as I can a day since day 1 and it took me until yesterday to do an elite mission as kyrian. I didnt beat the HP because it was impossible but I did double the damage which worked great
My biggest gripe is the rewards are almost pointless, at least right now. Most anima missions have a net gain of like 30 anima, the gear is low ilevel, and the highest soul ash mission I've seen rewards 114.
"some players worry they might"Don't worry about what you might do or you won't get far enough to do it.It could easily be fixed by the time it could have been an issue.
I looked at the soul ash mission, looked at the enemy's powers and health pools, looked at my lvl 20-24 heroes poweres and health pools, and gave up.Looks like I was right by foregoing the soul ash mission, and saved myself one day.
the role disparity was something I didn't realise till I took a hard look, it's odd how Kyrian is just all dps initially (there's a healer at renown 38 i think) where as the night fae is more balancedluckily these table missions are basically non essential and can be ignored... which probably isn't very good for Blizzard lol
From what I did see so far there actually is NOT any RNG. Every attack and skill have pre-determined targets.Which means:- positioning of troops can and will have effect on result- you can calculate your result, but it would be quite time consuming and you would need to be carefull and not make mistakes- don't expect Mission table helper telling you what to use anytime soon- some webpage calculating results of mission will appear eventually its matter of dedication and timeSo far common mission sems to be easy difficulty go UP only with Rare and Elite missions or missions with higher level of troops.Personally I don't really try missions where I don't have clearly superior numbers. Few I did try have mixed results. Most rewards from table are not really needed. Soul Ash is excepsions, but those appear to be impossible at this time.Recommendation -> focus on leveling your heroes and don't experiment much until we have some tool to determine results. At that note ANYONE did manage to defeat Soul Ash mission? - Can you share what did you use?
Haven't gotten a soul ash mission yet, but as Venthyr I have yet to lose a mission. Wish I could say why, but I always just skip to the end.But these would be MUCH more enjoyable if there was even minimal art and sound dept. investment. I might actually be able to watch and learn how it worked. Sitting there and watching nameplates shake while something that looks like dev tools scrolls on the left doesn't feel like I'm getting my money's/time's worth.
I haven't had any problems as Venthyr. We have a champion that does aoe healing to the entire team as well as a self heal ranged troop, but I don't really use them because their hp is so low. I'm going to try the soul ash mission with a team of 22 22 20 19 and 21 troop level. I'm seeing that there's this "Wave of Eternal Death" field buff applied that gives everyone on my team a stacking dot..........it's 119 soul ash Blizz, chill the F out...
