Since they're not bringing Archaeology back again for the second expansion in a row where it could have been used to flesh out an interesting, ancient, never-before-seen location, I might as well post my most desired revamp of the profession anywayI want them to change the profession going forward and make it less about grinding and crafting random trash. What I'd love is for each zone to have a bar, 0-100 for example, and for each expansion to have its own bucket bar like other professions. As you find lore details in a zone from books, statues, maybe even quests, it fills out the zone's bar as if you had crafted something. At 30%, 60% and 100%, you get a short quest chain relating to the zone which involves exploring ruins or fixing an ancient mechanism, or meeting a historian, and you learn a little more about the zone. For the final quest of each zone, it rewards you a toy, mount, transmog, etc. The current 'rare' rewards from Archaeology. And each bar you fill gives progress in the main expansion bar, which does similar, only for more largely affecting stories, perhaps even teasing cosmic relations for things like finding First One influence in Titan relics or evidence of the Dreadlords, etc. Make Archaeology into a side-story, history delivery system rather than a profession, IMO. Make it something you can largely fill out naturally. Kinda like Renown but for supporting lore.
they forgot a piecehttps://twitter.com/TheRedShirtGuy/status/1516477518152441864"-Main villain is Murozond-New Allied Race is coming with pre-orders, unrelated to Dracthyr (who are a core race)"playable tuskarr
Not paying attention to Archaeology is stupid in my opinion. This is the Dragon isles, a region that hasn't been visited for several millennia. There's going to be heaps of history over such a scale of time and why not make it an interesting gap for lore nerds to discover?Dracthyr, I love them, I really love what I am seeing there. To be a dragon! I can't believe it, but once again you missed the bat Blizzard. Why not make them able to Tank as well? Seems more appropriate than just DPS and Healing.Lastly, the M+, I disagree heavily with having older dungeons mandatorily slip into the mix I'm sorry.
Yes, lets go to another exciting new land and shoot lore in the proverbial foot by not having archaeology. Bonus points this time for having Reliquary and Explorer's League directly involved. And no current plans means even if they do decide to get back around to it, earliest would be 10.2 (two teams means 10.0 and 10.1 should both be currently in very different levels of development, but still). And really, might as well state 11.0 because shadowlands should be addressed, dragonflight will have to be addressed, and frankly the whole profession needs some TLC.
Blizzard Doesn't like how long the world first race took in the last raid due to massive timegating. Then turns around and justifys said timegating. New xpac looks like absolute dog $%^&. Something out of rift or FF. That's what you get when everyone who knew wtf they were doing is gone.
Archeological seems important for a "uncover the past" expansion.
Oh yay, Tyrande is coming so those of us in the Horde can get our noses rubbed in how UTTERLY HORRIBLE we are...again.
Archaeology is so easy to fix it is insulting that they're sidelining it. Literally all old gear/weapons that can't be got the 'usual way' i.e. removed content, throw it in Archaeology. done. Make it account wide too so people can continue progress when their on their alts as well. When people want to wind down they can work on transmogs
Didn't they specifically said in the announcement that Dracthyr Evokers will start in the 5th new zone so no pre-patch? Or did I misunderstood them.
Older dungeons are fine later in the expansion. Use all new dungeons for launch though. I would prefer to do the new things.
