"The oldest uncorrupted Black Dragon alive" is NOT the Ebyssian, but Sabelian! Ebyssian was born ten thousands years ago, but only childerns of Neltharion after his tranformation into Deathwing are Onixia and Nefarian, therefore Sabelian was born BEFORE events of War of the Ancientstherefore he is older than Ebyssian
This article is so biased, it's not even funny. You have to start using phrases like "in my opinion" and stop writing your feelings and opinions as facts."Wrathion's approach has changed over time specifically as a result of learning from his failures, a far more important quality in a leader than simply never making a mistake at all." - What? Since when?Wrathion could be a great leader, but only decades from now. He doesn't seem like he has learned from his mistakes at all. He's still in the "I know better" mindset. It's never wise to give power to a narcissist. While I'm very afraid that Sabellian might not be free of corruption, bringing up his part in his father's actions is just stupid. What part of old god corruption do people not understand? It will all come down to the writing at the end of the day, but Wrathion is a literal war criminal, so I'm not willing to accept him as a good choice.P.s. There's a mistake in the article. You wrote Ebyssian, instead of Sabellian. "and unlike Ebyssian, Ebonhorn has never been guilty of taking part in Deathwing's crimes."
A Triumvirate with Ebyssian, clearly. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
Both Wrathion and Ebyssian were actually doing something for the plot, while Sabellian was doing nothing since TBC, where he first appeared.Change my mind...
When you pick the "cool" one, you get incompetence in a pretty package. Wrathion's willingness to use war to attempt to unify Azeroth demonstrates he was willing to see countless die to "be ready for the Legion". This was a stupid plan. He even doubled-down on this plan, switching to backing the Iron Horde. Doing dumb things with good intentions is still dumb.Sabellian has demonstrated a willingness to solve problems without jumping to global war and mass suffering, while hiding behind dozens of bodyguards. Actually cleansing his fellow members of the Black, not going straight to genocide. a more measured, cerebral veteran of conflict. Sabellian is the correct leader.
The entire argument with "Wrathion caused WoD and Legion" I find a bit of a mute point. He wasn't alone in that scheme. In fact, he didn't do much other than being part of hatching that plan. Kairoz on the other hand was by far the one in charge of it all while Wrathion functioned as a gullible figurehead of it.Kairoz A.k.a Kairozdormu, was a bronze dragon affiliated with infinite Dragonflight, and thus had foresight on the timeways. Wrathion in the meantime was a gullible whelp, a young black dragon who would be all the easier to manipulate for the sake of looking for respect, recognition and to fulfill his goal of protecting Azeroth.Kairoz could have easily foreseen the path that plan would take, and still chose to take it, paving the way for the Ironhorde to be created and what it would lead to. Being a bronze dragon gave him that power and privilege and manipulated Wrathion to be the scape goat of it all. Putting a strain on the trust to the Black dragon. So when in the argument that "Wrathion caused WoD and Legion" I say; No he didn't. He was an unwilling pawn beyond his knowledge and manipulated by the Infinite Dragonflight and Kairozdormu to take the fall should their plot be discovered or fail. (As he was still a whelp and had little no idea of the roles and powers of the other dragonflights at the time.)
Wrathion embodies the millennial spirit of thinking that the world starts with them, but actually the whole thing in Outland about the Black Dragonflight was excellent in The Burning Crusade, and Sabellian did an awesome job. When Malygos died the blue dragons chose for Kalecgos (I did vote for him, as the visage of Tarecgosa), if are the black dragons the ones to choose their leader, will any vote for Wrathion? I have zero doubts that Blizzard will make Wrathion the leader, choosing Sabellian would be a much better story, and that's not what they want.
All i see atm is Sabellian being setup(after being forgotten about by blizz for well over a decade) to be royally screwed and treated potentially the same way they treated Azuregos from the blue flight during his leadership challenge against Kalec'gos for blue aspect and leader. Its lookin more and more like a rinse and repeat. This article mentions things like the cover art but honestly that's a poor indicator seeing as Ysera is featured on all artwork respresenting the green flight yet we know for those who did the questline Ysera guided Merithra to become the new green flight leader and future aspect just like Norzdormu is featured as the bronze figurehead and yet again through the questline its become obvious by the end of dragonflight we will most likely have a new bronze leader and aspect. I see so much bias for Wrathion just because he gave us some legendaries, has been present on n off since cata and helped us against the old gods yet his actions robbed us of three of azeroth's greatest leaders/champions not to mention the thousands who have died as a result of his actions and the destruction azeroth has been through across the world. While it is true all three potential candidates have good points and bad points wrathion in no way is the glorified champion of azeroth he is made out to be. I could go on there is so much more that can be said about all three but no matter who we choose blizzards choice will either shock us or please us with their choice.
I have a feeling neither! while this is a fun little character squabble to see unfold, and I do hope to see and learn more about Sabellian (I soo want to see updated netherdrakes!)i think in the end there might be some funky plot twist, in which the pursuit of being an Aspect as we know it, won't be such a good idea, as we learn the Titans themselves have been rather sketchy.Maybe the dragonflights can find their own innate power within themselves.I get that while it doesnt absolve the fact the dragonflights typically are represented by a singular member but maybe the 3 brothers can figure that out, who knows maybe a new character takes that role, if it is still necessary at the end of the expansion.
I feel like, in general, Sabellian would make a better leader for the Black Dragonflight, whereas Wrathion would make a better protector of Azeroth. Unfortunately, splitting the job duties doesn't seem to be an option. However, as a WoW lore nerd of over a decade, I'm seeing the writing on the wall. Wrathion chills out and steps up, he and Sabellian gain each other's grudging respect, then in the last act Sabellian sacrifices himself for the Greater Good somehow and in his dying breath asks Wrathion to lead their flight. There's plenty of argument to be had about "deserve" and "better", but tragically little over "most likely". They've just sunk way too much into Wrathion not to make him Aspect. There's maybe a sliver of a chance he decides he likes tromping around Azeroth too much and decides to let Sabellian have the big job, but for all I love Blizzard's stories, they're not usually surprising.
Whilst ultimately you are probably correct, Ebyssian is a much better choice than either. He has the wisdom, patience and compassion, as well as an inherent nobility, that both Sabellian and Wrathion seem to lack. They are both too busy being petty and point scoring off each other, rather than actually leading as a leader. Wrathion is also blatantly being afflicted with other issues from the pre expansion story, and is on the borderline of flipping out altogether. Sabellian was complicit in deathwing's atrocities and has made no apology for it. Neither has acted out of any real concern for Azeroth tbh, Sabellion hung out in outland, and Wrathion has been more concerned with simply accumulating personal power.
I still hope it will be Ebyssian. Wrathion has made some serious mistakes. Sabellion is just... meh - where has he been?
Wrathion 100% doesnt have what it takes to lead the black dragonflight, he's too young and naive. That's why i chose Sabellian.
