I don't mean to be the English police but "passed a Highmountain Mage" should be "past a HIghmountain Mage"
Both Allience and Horde portal room should have been big circular room with spiral stairs in the middle.Alliance should have the wooden eastethic to it with stairs going up and with no longer enought room for more portals, it simply could add another level to it.Horde could have the same but more like cave styled. With the stairs and new space being added lower and lower. (I know, if the newer portal is added the furthest, you have to run the furthest. But tbh, you're already max lvl, you're likely to have more skils to be faster than lvl 10 who needs to teleport back to Silvermoon)I love Stormwind portal room. But once you go to the back room (on Live, there is new night elven capital portal) that place feels empty and cold. The way it's designed is not usefull at all. To have long halls connected with another long hall, that requires a lot of steps. Circular shape allows for less steps as you can easily see and go straight to where you need. And while at it, can Orgrimmar get real harbor? Maybe whole revamp. Stormwind could use it too.
I guess TWW counts as offworld since that appears to be the current order to portal placement. Or they're just gonna take a poll and pick one to move down stairs.
There's a back room in the SW one? It makes sense, but I never knew it was there. Neat!
As cool as the portal room aesthetic is, I kinda wish they just had one portal that you could click on and select where you want to go. Rather than needing to run around to different rooms. Hell in org, I would take them opening up another room across from the stairs that go down, rather than going down stairs to the lower portal room to access the new portal.
All new portals should be at the entrance to the portal rooms and you have to walk through them to get to the rest cause we are all to lazy to spend five extra seconds to go down stairs or a back room and we should all be level capped and fully geared at the start of an expansion too and raids shouldn't have trash any more and only one boss that drops all the loot we just vendor and de. mythic plus dungeons should be an auto play sequence where we just push a button and get rating and loot.
Given that they know we have at least another 3 expansions, it's a shame they didn't take the opportunity to revamp, enlarge and plan for the extra portals. The Mage tower one is TARDIS-magical anyway (bigger on the inside than the outside) so there's no reason why the Ogrimmar one couldn't be too, or simply excavate into the cliff wall to the far end.It makes sense for the portals to be in expansion order, going clockwise around the room (with the exception of Silvermoon and a new portal to Exodar, which theoretically would be BC, but makes more sense to be between the Vanilla and Outland ones). This would make the latest portal the last active one on the left as you enter, with blank alcoves for future expansions. Yes we'd have to relearn it once, but having all the portals consolidated in one location makes far more sense than having them split between the capital city portal room, SW harbour/Og. Flight tower and Boralus/Zandalar/Dalaran etc.
As pretty as all the portals are, it would be more logical to have just one portal with a control panel you click on to set it for you want to go.
Yeah place an old portal in the back room.. caverns of time, northrend dalaran, something like that
Not a huge fan of the giant portal rooms, but I suppose they're inevitable. An alternative would just be a bunch of rooms with aggrevating loading screens in between, like going from Stormwind > Boralus > Silithus. Nice in theory, boring in practise. That said, I'm disappointed that they're still going all in on Stormwind and Orgrimmar. It can't be that much development time to make portal rooms in other cities as well. A place like Ironforge already has the entire Paladin/Priest trainer building that's perfect for it; Thunder Bluff has a big cave that can be tweaked a bit, Silvermoon can easily get another room in the palace, and so on. Now that most vendors in the main cities are irrelevant and outdated in terms of their skill training and items on offer, the portals are the main reason to go to two cities.
