Eggscilloscope
One of the most interesting changes in the new PTR Build is the change to the
Eggscilloscope
. This item is a quest reward from a chain that starts in Burning Steppes from
Tinkee Steamboil
, called
Broodling Essence
. Below is a list of the quests --
Broodling Essence
Felnok Steelspring
Chillwind Horns
Return to Tinkee
Tinkee Steamboil
Egg Freezing
At the tail end of this quest chain, you'll get an item called
Eggscilloscope
, which allows you to freeze eggs inside Blackrock Spire, allowing players to walk over the egg without it breaking and spawning Whelplings. In the unfortunate event that you destroyed this quest item, you can return to
Tinkee Steamboil
and trade in a
Yellow Punch Card
(From Gnomeregan) and get a replacement Eggscilliscope.
What a frozen egg looks like after using the Eggscilliscope
On the new PTR Build, Blizzard has changed this, removing the need for the Yellow Punch Card for a replacement. This is quite a peculiar change, as this extremely unique and often forgotten item is mostly useless. Players can avoid the eggs by just... not walking on them, so nobody really uses the Eggscilliscope for anything.
Unless Blizzard made this change to possibly give players a clue about an item they'll need in the upcoming Blackwing Lair changes? Could it be possible that Rookery Eggs will now be inside Blackwing Lair and you can use this item to freeze the eggs? If I were to guess, that sounds like an interesting mechanic for maybe the
Suppression Room
?
