Why don't class developers read this...This is on point I am honestly rolling necrolord because of the transmog nothing else.
I am a blood DK main for 12 years. Always enjoyed the class mainly cause of grip/massgrip. I was always playing at the max level of content before BfA, now I only tried up to +20 on Mythic+ and no NyA mythic. I had quit from the end of Legion and started again at 8.3. I was not really impressed by what the spec could do, but at least I thought it would fare well in comparison with other tanks, but no. Corruptions helped a lot but thats it. Now at the pre-patch I saw prot pala rising up in the beta and I thought I'd give a go to my 2nd favorite tank spec. I was amazed to see the difference in survivability both DR and Healing wise.Same content (+17, +19 Mythic+) and I was putting more than double the effort as a BDK to pull 1)half the damage 2)simply surviving. At start of the beta I saw Death's Due being a boring ability, BUT it fixed something BDK lacks for couple xpacs, DR. But suddenly nope, nerfed to the ground. Don't get me wrong I very much enjoy the fantasy of blood sucking tank healing back the dmg it takes, but when I see other specs like Prot pala/Vengence DH having more or less the same self-healing output with tons of DR on top of that, it's just unfair. The only way I see BDK coming back in my humble opinion is once again to buff it's Mastery like it used to be. Still follows the same principal more or less + it's something no other tank has. I never understood why they destroyed our mastery but blizz will be blizz. So because of all that, this is the first time in those 12 years that im going to switch mains. This has been by far the most disappointed I've been with the spec in all those years. I really hope someone from blizzard reads the feedback for blood dk's, its such a nice class with amazing potential.
I found the article very informative and extremely amusing to read. People complaining about the "negativity" from the article sound like hamlette 2.0s and Karens
Good article but i just want to point out that you may want to mention something about Insatiable Appetite. Its primarily for DPS dks and even more specifcally PvP DPS DKs. Its not not entirely useless in that regard.
Article is a bit whiny, especially about Rune Tap. Your complaint is that we go into the fight with no active mitigation but the same is true for most tanks: Warriors won't have rage to Shield Block, Paladins won't have Holy Power for SotR, etc.At least DK has a 20% reduction in a short cd to initiate every pull.
Yikes... looks like my DK is going to rot and collect dust for another expansion.
Not a good article at all, paints the entire specialization in a negative light like they have some kind of grudge.
Thanks for the nice guide! Do you think Voracious becomes competitive when combined with Bryndaor's Might, or are we still better off simply timing our Death Strikes well and sticking with Blood Worms?
Thanks for the detailed response Mandl. I tracked down the honk aura just in case too. ;)
Read, understood, and agreed. I was honestly horrified (as I havent kept up with the beta tuning except for the initial weeks) that so extremely many of the conduits, legendaries and blizz's 'new look' on legendaries that would 'add to the classes and specs' went so woefully amiss on BDK. Raidwide vamp blood would'a made VP a better button to press.... Come on, another expansion where the borrowed powers for this spec is just as irrelevant- None of the azerite BDK had in BfA was something that would make or break the tank: the only one I'd say was somewhat useful was extra haste on CS proc, and that's a push. Nonetheless, there is one positive outlook on the covenants: Maybe I'll be able to keep aggro in m+ when my grp uses cd's with Venthyr aoe.
