I feel like with the new AH changes a lot of players will have to adjust what they consider to be 'good use of time' - farming things for 30-50k gph might not be realistic with this new market. #Warcraft #WoWGoldMaking— GirlGoblin/Stargrace (@GirlGoblin1) August 20, 2022

Well this is timely.
Sure there are little niches now due to price instability, but long term there will be no ability to make serious gold on the AH. I think the goldmakers who write these articles know this, but they have to be diplomatic because criticizing Blizzard on Wowhead is kind of verboten. Markets are basically toast and buying wow tokens will be the only way to make serious gold outside of cornering a crafting/collectibles market or selling boosts for raids, M+ or pVP.
The thread change is utterly stupid. An anology is a gas stations raising the price of gas because someone at another store 3 states over lowered their price of soda. Increase thread price because mats are cheaper?Blizzard Is greedy AF
Some sort of advanced warning so we could stock up on consumables...?Beyond Blizzard to do that though, right.
Silver lining: For low pop realms it's not the case of very few people controlling the prices for some stuff. Like when the whole realm had a combined 1000 enchanted heavy leather and a single person bought everything up to increase the price by two or three times again.
The whole concept of "realms" is an archaeic concept that frankly should have been abolished a long time ago. We know we can do almost anything "cross realm" now (with the exception of mythic raids for some bizzare arbitrary reason), so this needs to be a step in the direction of have one massive world.
Sure.. for everyone who : Uses TSM. don't have Alchemy, Enchanting, Inscription. If you are a blacksmith, leatherworker, tailor, or jewelcrafter you need to be able to constantly re-post you're items because you know there are at least 5 others who are constantly re posting them (Most of whom need addons to price the items at x% above cost because they have all the profession and just repost every minute.) Not a casual player. Able to have more than one account to sit in the AH while you actually play. If so you're good! The best part " part of it is that Shaldowlands is ending and most of these mats will be no longer valuable." That's still a few months away, and when DF hits, there are still going to be the people purposely dropping prices, new expansion and new mats are going to be way more busy then now which broke the system. Prices of the new mats will drop again when things are selling because they aren't sitting at the AH reposting like hundreds of others will be. Combined this with the new work order system and crafting stations, only people with multiple accounts will be making anything.
I hate Auction House Players, so anything that upsets them is good in my book. But like usual blizz has screwed it up (as I'm typing this the AH Is closed, why are this current crop of devs so incompetent?)I thought this was supposed to be mats and not anything crafted. Yet Glyphs, Cut gems and I believe enchants are included. Why include some crafted items and not other (lw, bs, tailor)? And why not include things like Battlepets? Or gear drops? And why does this feel like another way of trying to cover up the fact the game is dying? I wish they'd spend the resources they do on all this merging, shards, etc and invest in the game so it would see new players!
Gathering professions are now pointless in shadowlands , you will get a minor bit of gold for things you come across but in terms of gold per hour your are better off doing a lot of different activities. With the volume of change in some commodities it is actually hard to buy themIts almost as if blizzard wanted to kill traditional crafting and they had some new crafting coming along in dragonflight that they wanted to make more appealing
i called this would happen the week before it did ... everyone on my realm thought i was stupid for saying "mat prices will crumble come tuesday" and sure enough they did ... BUT this is only for the short term due to the fact the economy was already rolling previous to the merging and already had more supply than demand ... by this i mean come DF this issue will not be the same due to the fact all mats will come in naturally and the prices will stablize at what people feel things are worth instead of now where people already had tons of mats sitting around (callous hide for instance on my realm alone there was over 1.5million on some days) and this caused mats that were already worthless to become double worthless ... the only direct current effect from the merging of the AH atm is on old world materials (anything from previous xpacs) which caused them to become available and stablize at decent prices ( i sold some khorium and primal mights today before the AH shut down and the prices wernt terrible but wernt massively profitable anymore either)
The "rich" aren't suddenly going to lose all their gold, and now its extremely hard for the "poor" to make money. What problem did this solve? Lack of demand for tokens.
What do you do with 12k bows....just vendor them for profit? Am I that out of the loop that I didn't know you could craft stuff and then vendor it for a profit?
