Oneal being paid less is just.. Man. What a way to beautifully encapsulate how messed up your company is.
Yes! I stand with you guys!
is that the guy from Moneyball
I always found it incredibly dumb that jobs have "pay ranges" All it does is cause animosity.Everyone should be hired at the same amount, and then over years in that position, you slowly move up, until capped, this would prevent anyone from getting angry about being hired for less than someone that has worked in that same position/job for a long time, and they themselves would eventually get up to the same pay structure by putting in the same amount of time.
Okay. At this point, they're so evil, if they were in a movie it would break my suspension of disbelief. They hired the woman BECAUSE of a PR issue regarding sexual harassment and inequal pay ... AND THEY INEQUALLY PAY HER.WHAT THE HELL.
I hate living in the age of fake news...you never know what is the truth and what is propaganda. Who knows?
The problem is two people hired for a similar role and both paid the same, then it turns out one does minimal effort and the other works above and beyond and really delivers.People should be paid on their performance and what they can bring to the company not necessarly the role its why they have pay bands.People are not the same so they should not be rewarded the same.In this case jan was just a tick box so they paid less because it want a real role. Should of never happened in the first place. Her role won't be replaced that's for sure.
i feel like you're missing the point
Not just Kotick needs to leave, but also the people in their dev team who lose sleep over jokes and a painting of a woman showing cleavage, or changing everyday words because they find them "offensive". These people will drive the company into the ground if they have it their way, you're a games company, make games, don't force your ideals and woke politics into it.
i'm not sure if that's why BFA, WoD, SL, and Cata. were so bad. But, again, more concerned about the (admittedly) heavy handed removal of Master Baiter and not the real life abuse of humans.
Was she paid less because she was a women, or paid less for other reasons? Do we know all the facts or are you just jumping and branding your pitchforks because the keyword 'women' and 'paid less' were used? So that group doesn't like their CEO, we understand this already. Someone was paid less, well that happens all the time usually that person didn't represent themselves as well as their peer or their peer made all kinds of promises and the person responsible for paying them bought it? I certainly know nothing about the details of Jen's contract and how it was made to be, nor do I care how much these people make. Being a leader in a workplace such as Blizzard is painfully stressful, these ABK people are sounding more and more unreasonable the more I hear about them. Why Jen quit for real, we'll probably never know - she seems to want to go out gracefully and with someone in her position - was expected. Whether we'll know the real reason, maybe in time faster if there was something foul at play longer otherwise I'd say.
People should be paid equal for doing the same or similar work. And given that they have only been on this job with the same title for three months, drawing conclusions about the quality of her work seems crazy. She was not given the same pay for same or similar work right from the start.
