Nice change. We'll be surely as busy as beavers.
—I feel the need to jump in to explain why people are calculating the break even point at 35 anima (a single token) per event, even though you earn multiple tokens per event. The difference is in opportunity costs and how much they value Sanctum Upgrades they weren’t intending to purchase. The equation isn’t “how long until I earn 40k again after buying upgrades” but “how long until I earn an additional 40k *on top* of what I would have been earning anyway without the bonus.”—Because all the talk about anima tokens versus anima events confuses things (at least for me), imaging Spender A and Spender B saving $1 a day. They are saving up for a bunch of fun items they want. There’s also a MacGuffin that’s $100 that a lot of people like, but they’re not really interested and think it’s worthless. After 100 days, they are offered a deal, “If you buy this MacGuffin for $100, you can save $1.20 day.”Spender A declines since they don’t want the MacGuffin. Spender B also doesn’t want the MacGuffin, but buys it anyway to earn the bonus. It only takes 84 days to earn that $100 again, but that is not the break even point because by then Spender A has $184, while Spender B only has $100 and a MacGuffin they value at $0. Spender B is behind by $84 in this case. It’s not until day 600 until Spender B has caught up and will start be able to purchase items Spender A can’t because Spender A isn’t earning the bonus. If everything Spender B wanted to purchase cost less that $600 total, buying the MacGuffin wasn't worth it. In this scenario, the break even point is 500 days ($100/$0.20). If you value MacGuffins (aka Sanctum Upgrades) the break even point will come sooner. If Spender C came along and thought MacGuffins were worth $84, then the break even point for Spender C would be on day 84 when all Spenders had items of equal value. —Back to WoW, the people who *least value* Sanctum upgrades are the ones most upset and consider the bonus not worth the time investment, which for them is (40,000/35) = 1143 anima events for Rank 3. This change is great for Spender C who wants the MacGuffin/Upgrades anyway, but not so much for Spender B who has to wait months to break even, and even worse for Spender A who only wanted to buy a few things and doesn't need to do over a thousand events to save up the anima.
"It is worth noting that the wording of the Renown rewards implies this will only work with World Quests "Should mention that 'World Quests Rewards' seems to be a somewhat broad term - for reference look at the item level increases for R19 and 29 which simply say 'World Quest Rewards' . Whilst the text in no way mentions them, it does also increases the item level dropped by rares and most of the treasures. So I suspect, based on that, that the 'World Quest Anima Rewards' increase would also effect those.
btw the mission table anima quests seems to be also affected, even though they are just pitiful 5 anima increments....
The "it's your choice" people are either trying to advocate for collectors to stop playing WoW purposely, or doing it unwittingly, because that's the end result.I've never been an endgame raider or mythic+ person. So, when threads would pop up on WoWhead or the WoW forums, or anywhere for that matter, complaining about raids or loot drops or whatever it may be, I didn't pop my head into those threads to say, "well, it's your choice to play for gear," because a) that would have been a stupid thing to say and b) I didn't play that way so I would have been unable to form an educated opinion on that particular subject. The people giving feedback on raids, mythics, and gearing, may or may not have had valid points and concerns, but it wasn't my place to go into those threads and say, "it's your choice."Similarly, you can tell who hasn't spent the last 5 months grinding away on anima for upgrades and collections because their opinions are equally uneducated and unhelpful. Those of us who have been on the Anima grind know, for a FACT, that trying to upgrade sanctums and complete collections on ONE character takes 4-5 months, and during those 4-5 months you don't have time to play any alts, or any other games you might enjoy. So, by saying "it's your choice," what you're really encouraging us to do is quit instead of having our voice heard so that Blizzard makes changes. Two weeks ago, before I knew the hotfix for increased Anima was happening, I made my choice and unsubbed for the first time I can even remember. I've been on a 6 month sub forever, and my sub runs out mid-June. I'm hoping that by then, enough is datamined or known so that I can make an educated decision on whether or not I'll resub. I am not at all interested in a patch that requires me to endlessly grind more Anima to play the way that I choose to play. I'm hoping to be convinced by Blizzard to stay because it saddens me to be giving up a game that I've enjoyed for a decade and a half. But, this expansion has made my way of playing unplayable. I never had to "choose" anything before. I happily played away, enjoying the grind, and enjoying the game the way I chose to play. That's no longer possible. So, please, understand that just because you "choose" to play one way and find that enjoyable, that does not mean that others don't enjoy playing a different way. Nothing in a game is required. You are not required to run a Mythic raid, you are not required to get an ilvl over 200 -- UNLESS, you need that for the way that you like to play. I don't need it for the way I like to play, and that's why I don't go into those threads belittling those who do.What I need to play how I want to play is a cosmetic rewards system that doesn't require me to endlessly grind on one character at the expense of enjoying other alts in the same game, or spending time in other games I enjoy. So, again, please understand what you're implying when you say "it's your choice."
