I am probably in the minority but I hate having to worry about professions
Special crafting reagents come from world content / m+ / pvp ranked / and raiding. It also takes a lotttt to be good at crafting and get the gear needed to make wicked items (good thing for serious crafters). You will need consumables , high crafters gear, high quality reagents, hq optional reagents to make that gear then you will also need a specialist of that who has done a lot to make that. The crafting system is great as in FFXIV it kept a steady list of customers because I made those hard items and I invested a lot if time to get that to do it.Also, yes all gear slots are available to wear crafted armor so you can deck out your other characters. They also stated the items are bop but the crafter or the buyer can supply the some or all of the items and you can recraft it (kinda like reforging and do diff bonuses / optional reagents to upgrade it) .This was needed and crafting is solid again.
Guess we're all just ignoring that both the reagents and the gear are soulbound lol. Can only get it through the work orders, meaning you actually have to do the content. Complaining about this is Hunter level idiocy

By the time you grind this out we will in season 3..just raid and get it..it much easier..they screwed the pooch on professions.another piece of the game that garbage now..
there is nothing pay to win about this; nor shadowlands legendariesit baffles me the playerbase hates the idea that anyone can generate money with a tradeskill, They would rather everything be worthless so that no one is tempted to buy the token. Every time the item economy dies, the only real amounts of gold changing hands are between boosters. Is this really what people want?Shadowlands Legendaries were amazing for the average player to make gold, if they simply levelled a proper profession at the start. But everyone was obsessed with engineering for the wormhole and jumper cables, and was willing to give up their ability to make gold for it. They spent the rest of Shadowlands with buyer's remorse, until Blizzard finally nerfed the costs and buffed gathering. I sincerely hope the playerbase is smarter this time. Crafting is supposed to be lucrative and facilitate making gold. If you have no gold because you don't do anything in game to make any, that's not a reason to lobotomize the professions nor does it make the game pay to win. It means you should try picking up that blacksmithing hammer and figure it out yourself!

Then try to sell that gold to other players either in exchange for real life money or services or something time consuming. So you have tanks selling purples from raids and dungeons in exchange for gold earn through time investment (or simply bought from 3rd party). In Retail, you can use gold to buy the Expansion. You can use gold to buy your subscription and anything at the cash shop. Literally everything can be bought with gold. People use their cash to buy gold, which is used for in-game and some out-of-game stuff.So the big crybaby neckbeards here are angry that crafters will make quality desirable goods and in their fetus like minds they believe that it will ruin the game because whales will buy up all the crafting gear and somehow that will allow them to beat all mythic raids. Your toxicity is the reason your friends left you.
So many people so confidant they know this is going one way or the other when it's not even on the BETA xD.
Bop reagents are so %^&*ing annoying
