Quote from MDI rules. "A Battle.net account will beconsidered to be in “Good Standing” if there are no records of an accountsuspension greater than 48 hours or an account ban during the Tournament and during the six (6) months preceding the commencement of the Tournament".So i believe it's half a year w/o any bans/suspensions/etc.
My account for sure is not in good standing. I also wont be buying SL until it is on sale for at least 20 USD.
I help my friends by warning them not to play. I play because my family plays and because I'm too injured to do other things.
this seems really cool :) betting on a few things in favor of a huge benefit - sure to see tweaks along the way lets use our imagination ppl , good standing , u do the math = positive about odds that , any given player 'gets along with players' . the way bliz will present this in game to 1) guide seekers 2) random afk players 3) other guides - using frames etc , ui stuff , that's what will decide just how much 'status' this could possibly afford hahaha , think of raider.io as 'status' that players *must* seek out and see on every single nameplate as a personal form of 'status' - important , , raider.io is not bliz system :P !- think of how much discretion is given to things like arena rating and achievements etc - there are in WOW only combat animations , mounts , and some sounds , that actually catch your attention across the bee farm or w/e , in the open world .player interactions are pretty reasonably 'anonymous' , eg. , encountering a random player in the wild while doin dailies etc. - the UI does not alert me that they are ilvl 470 ooo maaaan , , or that they are the only arcane mage who has killed nzoth or something the basic name plate if you want it , ppl (this is the game still, folks) 'identity' in the UI , is back seat to the GAME DESIGN - in open world ,*it scales with DISTANCE* *it makes NOISE* . *you hear each vulpera female kill command sound !* - - you will always see warriors do a whirlwind & see hunters barrage & the spell casting of course - that stuff is distinct . remember.why this game succeeds! not status . , , its just a player in the world & so are u . ooh you need a portal ? well , best bet is to use UI - do /who ! need a guide ? itll be a UI thing other MMO sometimes floods that open world interaction with symbols - but that is historically just not this game ! :) in WoW it is your choice to leave that immersion of open game because of curiosity about a random player , , even so , historically , the ui lets you inspect -> mouse over that gear, talents, -> wanna see achievements aw ye, -> flip through PvP info (fitting for player-player interaction, right!) . , keep in mind - that these are all the native UI and have been forever - by the way - - enough info is found on inspect - enough for what ? turns out , given the games success in facilitating team building - the "inspect" UI is clean & gives enough info - just enough - to respectfully approach a player! because of genuine curiosity over what you inspected!, & now they can nerd out finally cus someone noticed they were idk they were using an item from two raid tiers ago or something . ! be sure- nothing will reverse the gameplay philosophy im describing. this builds on it . . it will let a dedicated but shy player have 'inbound' - ie , expect random messages & attentive back-and-forth.. look forward to it . also , look forward to emergence of "guide communities" cus that is something ppl will be able to bond over a whole hell of a lot & have questions / advice to share between guides.
considering that I already do this now, well known on my server for assisting new ppl whether to the game or to hordeside, I will definitely sign up for it..........been a guild leader for over 10 years now, you make alot of new friends just helping out. <3
It's pretty nice, I did it by myself since a long time ago. So now those that like to help newcomers will get legitimacy, a nice addition.
meh sad, I have helped a good amount of new people, even made some of them my friends. But im just afraid the ban i got back in WoD wont allow me to join this. Oh well.
I like this idea, the first friend i ever made in WoW was the result of helping a newbie. If it can be turned on and off so you don't get bombarded with questions 24/7 that would probably be the best.Even tho i'm definitely not an expert of my class after playing for about 13 years i want to think i know enough about the game to try to help out some folks if this goes live.
I'd raise the requirements to become one. It's just way too easy, literally anyone can become one with pathfinder. I would add a certain amount of achievement points, 5 max level characters that have existed for at least 2 expansions and some collection items as proof that they know a thing or two.
What can go wrong, eh?
Sounds a lot like if you've gotten an infraction in the past for any reason, you won't be allowed to be a guide.Shame, some of us 14 year vets have a lot to share. And I'd hate to not be able to because of a flamewar in my teen years.
I'm looking forward to being a mentor (assuming the system works as it's meant to). Though I'm a lazy git and so am not the type to give carry runs and stuff of that nature, I do love helping out with information when I have it. Could be a good thing, as long as Blizzard has enough sense to know it's going to be trolled as much as it possibly can be for the first few weeks, and have a plan in place to prevent that (I admit I'm doubtful, though). (Why is it that almost no company is ever prepared for the crushing malice trolls/bullies inflict on new systems? Remember that Microsoft Twitter AI bot? Holy moly.)
I love this idea. We have a very active and helpful community it’s just a little hard to know who is willing to answer as there are about as many obnoxious jerks too.
Might as well put those achievement points to use. Maybe they can make a requirement around those, since getting multiple achievements means you probably know what you're doing, or at least how to use a search engine.
looking at your comments and replies i find you hypocritical! you are as toxic as it gets yet you will cry about people being toxic? and you act like a snowflake yet you call ppl snowflakes! get a grip....
Any rewards for doing it, or just the feel good reward? This has potential for massive abuse and trolling.
I wonder if there will be a way to turn this off if you don't want to be bothered for a while. Like, just waiting to solo grind stuff or not in a chatty mood.
Agreed. The Elitist, and those wanting power. It's unfortunate, but it's the truth. I hope that GM's are more active in the Guide Channel/With Guides, than in FFXIV.
How do you find out if your eligible to be a guide?
