It’s the final raid of the expansion, talking about the last two bosses on the hardest difficulty. It’s absolutely fine.
Oneshot raid mechs are to make up for a lack of interesting and thematic raid encounter. One shot raid encounters are bad and have always been bad. HAving to play perfectly should be a goal, not a necessity imo. maybe thats different the first few weeks for this high tier guilds, but for us mid tier mythic prog guild guys, it just indefinitely extends prog time - which may or may not be the point for retention but thats my opinion. The avg pull counts for the last 3 bosses is so wildly different in comparison.
These stats are incredibly disingenuous and misleading to the way nerfs go. Tindral recently got massive nerfs that haven't fully set in, yet, just like Smolderon before him.Likewise, Halondrus got massive nerfs that completely neutered the fight difficulty, and Anduin received numerous nerfs to make him reasonably accessible to kill for the vast majority of guilds.
This is the first raid tier where our guild isn’t doing any mythic. Between dead servers and no way to recruit more players, the hard cap of exactly 20 raiders for mythic needed and the horrible difficulty spikes in raids which leads to endless weeks of progression, we just realised that raiding mythic was making us miserable. Doing heroic only has been so much more fun. Maybe we’ll go back to mythic if they ever make it flexible sized or something.
Tindral is the worst. Smiolderon was... until the number of waves was reduced. it was far from fun to dodge 100500 waves. now it's not badon Tindral everything is 1-shot. not fun
My opinionFinal Fantasy XIV with its Ultimate Encounters have struck the perfect balance between player responsibility, 1 shot mechanics, and difficulty. If one player messes up in Ultimate, its a wipe, no question, its meant to be the most difficult content in the game, and at the same time, it rewards no player power. However those mistakes can be overcome with practice, and hard work. You cannot outgear the content, you cannot simply wait for more player power to beat the content, as you are synced to a specific ilvl, and the only slight power upgrade you can get is new patch food, and thats BARELY an increase. Now what makes this content different than mythic? Aside from the 8 man dungeon size, the mechanics are all Static. Yes some randomness happens, but for the most part, you know when a mechanic is coming, and how to react to it. Its a concession they make to keep 1 shot mechanics and 1 person fails, its a party fail in the game.Wow? Wow has Random mechanics, happening at random times. Yes Phase Transitions are a thing happening on a static boss % or timer but alot of things will happen randomly to random people and you cannot control for that. Add in 1 person dies and its a raid wipe type mechanics, and well...its no longer fun. Another difference is that Mythic Raid rewards player power while Ultimate is simply there for a Cosmetic weapon and to be a challenge. Think of Ultimate as an 8 man mage tower. Im not saying FFXIV is better than WoW in this regard. I'm simply stating they understand design better than WoW's current team and it shows that since Heavensward, the raid designs, the ultimate design, and Savage Mode design has barely changed and the systems are loved by millions. They're doing SOMETHING right that they dont have to change much. IMO Mythic should be there just for those who want the challenge. It should not award player power but instead really awesome looking cosmetic items. This means that many guilds WOULD stop doing mythic content, but if that was the case then they were going at mythic for the wrong reasons to begin with. Mythic should be for those who want to challenge themselves, not to get higher ilvl.
WoW is so lopsided now im surprised it's still standing. The mythic scene is becoming smaller and smaller due to the result of it becoming harder and harder. Many will never admit it though, all you will get is a "git-gud" behind clenched teeth. The vast majority never clear the initial tuning, by design, since that is meant to prop up the race, since if it isn't brutally difficult then the race becomes even more boring to watch. They focus more and more on an ever shrinking aspect of the game, meanwhile the rest of the game suffers because of it. No other avenue of this game is iterated on as much as mythic, and that is painfully obvious. Outside of literally the most difficult settings, the game has no teeth, none of it leaves a mark or is anywhere near being remotely memorable. Also you have no middle ground, it is either really hard, or mind numbingly easy. They are woefully out of touch with the game. They can't find a way to get new players, they can't find a way to keep players and they don't understand the players they currently have.Rant over, im sure it is just a skill issue with me being a boomer.Thankfully we got the classic stuff to fall back on for now, otherwise the game would be much more miserable, more so than it already is.
One shot mechanics aren’t going anywhere (especially last tier) because it’s the only thing guaranteed to slow the world first race down. Blizz just needs to be nerfing the fight sooner. It’s weird but mythic raids actually have 2 difficulties at this point, launch for 1% nerfs for 99%. As long as world first is a thing this will always be the case.
It should be really rare to one shot the raid in a mechanic fail. Tbh just that one person being dead is already a real punishment. But some of the great victories are when you have just a few people still standing and still pull it off, and you just wipe the whole raid on any mistake you never get that experience.
And to think of, we are in a season with perhaps the easiest and quickest way to upgrade gear. Unlike in the past, when gear could/would/did held players back progressing through mythic bosses, now your "Heroic" gear can go very high ilvl and end up max 6 ilvls below the mythic ilvl cap gear.It should've been other way around and yet here we are, thanks to over complicated and poorly designed encounters that are bloated with different crappy mechanics mostly one shotting players just for the heck of pretending to make this more interesting and difficult.
It's mythic, relax, not everyone needs to be able to do it. Who cares what % of people did hardest content 2 expansions ago, if you are not good enough anymore do a lower difficulty.
On Mythic Tindral now, can't wait for it to be nerfed into the ground, and I hope Fyrakk is also nerfed into the ground.
