My thoughts on the tank change are that they do not adequately solve the issue they have set out to resolve. By increasing a threat modifier you will only delay the issue rather than resolve the root cause.
What was the issue?
The issue here in my opinion is that the scaling on DPS players with this new increased ilvl ceiling coupled with essences has far outweighed what tanks have received leading to a wide gap between the two.
Buffing the threat modifier **in the base case scenario** will resolve the issue for now, however once people are nearing ilvl ceilings, it will return once more, and at that point the cycle begins again.
The answer here in my opinion is to keep the two closely aligned in terms of DPS output so that the threat modifiers can work as intended instead.
The current implementation of the threat buff (from in game threat points before/after) is that the threat modifier has been increased by 0.25x per essence unlock, however when a player does their burst/AoE they are peeling by a factor which is larger than this. If this is the intended solution, it would need to be increased further to keep up with DPS players.
Lastly, by tying the proposed solution to essence unlock levels this discourages people from playing tanks or playing tank alts as they will be significantly behind in terms of threat generation, at the very least the major essence should award a significantly higher threat bonus than the minor slots to allow for alts/new players to keep up.
