5.2 PTR: Blacksmithing Leveling Revamp, Megaera Video
In today's news round up, we found some big changes to blacksmithing on the 5.2 PTR! Blizzard is also conducting a ton of raid testing this week, for which we have a preview video, and launched a
Patch 5.2 Under Development
site that has information on the new raid, world bosses, factions, and PvP changes.
New Blacksmithing Training Projects
If leveling Blacksmithing always seemed daunting, 5.2 should make this a bit easier. There is a series of new
Training Projects
requiring
Ghost Iron Bar
that should get you from 1 to 500--no more flying around Azeroth for
Mithril Ore

Vale of Eternal Blossoms

Cullen Hammerbrow
and
Jorunga Stonehoof
. Upon learning the skill, they w

Blacksmithing: Lightning Forged Weapons
If you always wanted to craft iconic Blacksmithing weapons like
Stormherald
or
Drakefist Hammer
but didn't learn the plans prior to Cataclysm, it looks like you'll be able to create replica weapons in Patch 5.2 like
Fireguard, Reborn
!
In the last PTR build, we datamined
new blacksmithing plans
that were named after distinctive weapons from the Burning Crusade. These BoP weapons were only craftable by Weaponsmiths, and when specializations were removed in Cataclysm, players were no longer able to learn these plans. In addition, players couldn't learn all the weapons in Burning Crusade even if they were Weaponsmiths because there were further weapon subsets, such as Master Hammersmith.
Blizzard has already told us that there will be a special Lightning Forge on the
Isle of Thunder
, which wi
